School Timings Change – Proposal & Survey

Dear Parents,

We are considering changing the timings of the school for all three programs from June 2017. To know what is being proposed and why, as well as to understand what all the considered options were, please read through this document.

Overall, we believe that this move is beneficial for the student community as a whole without compromising on the school philosophy in any way. You will also have to chance to put across your concerns through a google form as well as an open session on this issue – the details of both you will be able to see only if you go through the document fully.

Important Details for the Academic Year 2017-18

Dear Parents,

The academic year 2017-18 is going to begin shortly. So let us welcome the new year keeping a few important details in mind.

1.Re-opening dates:

2.Uniform & Bags– Uniforms & bags will be available at School Zone, Citylight. Please refer to the details given below:

Please buy the uniform as per the house of your child. Only Primary (Grades 1 – 6) and Senior School students (Grade 7  – 12) have house allocations. There will be no house allocation for the Early Years students.

Students should be in complete uniform from the first day of school. In case of any problem in getting uniforms, please inform us immediately through email:

Bags – School Bags will also be available at School Zone. Bag sizes are given below as per the respective grades.

Please note that school bags will be available for Nursery to Grade 4. All
other grade students (Grade 5 onwards) can buy bags as per their requirement/choice.

Shoes – Students can wear shoes of any brand, provided they are completely or predominantly black. Socks should also be predominantly black. Shoes and socks can be purchased from any vendor of your choice.

3. I-Card / Bearer Card:

The I-card/ Bearer card will be handed over to you in the SLC/PTC. It is compulsory for all students to wear the I-card till June 30th, after which the I-card must be kept in the bag at all times. Any student not wearing the I-card will not be allowed to board the bus. The I-Card is also required for issuing books from the library.

The bearer card must be carried at all times, even while dropping off and picking up your child from the bus stop and whenever you visit the school. In case the bearer card is not shown, even if you are a parent, the student will not be handed over to you and will be brought back to the school. The same applies when you come to pick the child from the school. In case of any error or changes required in the I-card / Bearer-card, please report to the Front Desk for rectification. This could take up to 5 working days.

4. Transportation:

Detailed information regarding the stop preferred by you for pick up and drop off timings will be available from 10th May, 2017 onwards on the school website.

You can log on to the given link to view stop and timings.  During the first few days of school, transport schedule and routes can be a little off track as students are still adjusting to the new schedules. Further, because of rains from June to August there may be a delay in timings. Therefore, we hope for full cooperation from you during this period, till the schedule is settled.

5. Important academic dates for the  year 2017-18:

7th June, 2017 Wednesday School begins- Grades 1- 10 & Grade 12 Please note that attendance on the first and the last day of school is highly recommended. The first few days of school are when a child gets adjusted to his new classroom, classmates and teacher. Missing the first day creates a disconnect in the child.
8th June, 2017 Thursday School begins- Nursery, Jr. KG, Sr. KG
3rd July, 2017 Monday School begins for Grade 11

Timings: 07:45 am – 09:45 am

First PTM for Grade  2, 3 & 6 It is MANDATORY for both the parents’ to attend the PTM. In this meeting, curriculum will be discussed. Children are not allowed to accompany the parents for this meeting. It is compulsory for the parents to use the school transport to attend the PTM (Parents will only be permitted to attend the PTM if they use the school transport).

As Fountainhead School follows a progressive teaching methodology without dependence on texts and study guides, a sustained and consistent attendance is very important for each and every student.

6. Things to carry on the first day of school:

Early Years (Nursery, Jr. KG & Sr. KG) School bag, water bottle, lunch box, extra pair of clothes
Primary (Grade 1 – 6), Senior School Students (Grade 7 -12) Bag, water bottle, lunch box

Stationery and books will be handed over to the student on the first week of the commencement of school.

Bag, shoes, uniform, clothes, lunch boxes, water bottles etc. are to be labeled compulsorily. If they get lost (and students do lose a lot of their belongings, it becomes difficult to trace the items if they are not labeled. Loss of uniform (shorts, t-shirts and shoes) will not be accepted as a reason for not wearing the complete uniform.

Important Announcement (Sunday Working – 16th April)

Dear Parents,
Due to the Honorable Prime Minister’s visit on the coming Sunday & Monday to Surat, the District Education Office has requisitioned all Fountainhead School buses from Sunday  (16th April 2017) evening to Monday (17th April 2017) till about 01:00 p.m. In addition, many roads, including the stretch from Athwa Gate to the airport is likely to be blocked on Monday morning. This means that we won’t be able to work on Monday and it will be a holiday.
Fountainhead will instead work on Sunday, April 16th instead of 17th April in the following manner:
PYP Students: 7:30 to 2:00 as usual with D2 timetable except Grade 2 (which has SLC)
EY students: 10:10 to 3:30 as usual with D2 timetable
Senior School students (G7-12): as per the exam schedule on Monday (same timings to be followed)
Grade 2 parents & students: SLC from 7:30 to 3:30 (the same slots booked for Monday will hold true for Sunday).
In short, whatever was going to happen on Monday will happen on Sunday.

Change in last working day at School

Dear Parents,

Please note that last working day of academic year 2016-17 has been changed to Friday, 21st April 2017.

Menu for the month of April,2017

Dear parents,

The menu for the whole school is made by student council members (members of the student council are elected by the students of grade 7 to 12). They were given a list of food items by the school and  were given an opportunity to frame the school menu. The student council members collected votes from the senior school students (grade 7 to 12) using a google form. Based on everyone’s votes, they designed the menu for the month of April.

Reminder to pay 1st Installment for academic year 2017-18

Dear Parents,
A reminder to pay the 1st installment of annual academic fees along with the imprest deposit latest by 5th April 2017 to avoid late payment charges (Rs. 100 per day). You need to pay the fees in HDFC Bank using the bank slip already sent to you through your child/ren. If you have misplaced /not received the slip, you can get it collected from the front desk through your child.
In case you are planing to shift your child from Fountainhead to another school for the next academic year (2017-18), then we request you to send an application (Application for School Leaving Certificate) This will help us confirm admission to new students who want to secure admission in this school for the next academic session.
