Highlights and Homework -Day 1 – September 28th

## Highlights and Homework -Day 1 – September 28th

UOI: Learners were made acquainted with inequalities in the world through a short hands-on engagement. They were given few ‘needs and wants’ in the group, out of which they had to choose ‘needs and wants’ as per the number they got. Reflection was taken with the questions: Number of needs/wants they got, which one did they choose? How did they choose? and was choosing the needs/wants was difficult? They derived that there is inequality in the world but there should be certain things always be available to every child. From the same list of needs and wants, they created a new list.

1. The opportunity to express your opinion and be listened to
2. Money to survive.
3. Nutritious food
4. Clean water
5. Education
6. Protectioon from discriminition
7. Clean air
8. Decent shelter
9. Protection from abuse and neglect
10. Playgrounds and recreation centres
11. The opportunity to practise your own religion
12. Medical care when you need it.

Here, they derived the term “child rights”

Language: Learners read the poem ‘Flint’ from the Empowering English. They comprehended the poem with teacher’s help and practised simile in the group.

Homework:

Math:

Solve the following in your math notebook:
1) A notebook is 20 cm wide and 18 cm tall. What is its area?
2) Each side of a square painting is 3 meters long. What is the painting’s area?
3) Each side of a square kitchen tile is 24 centimetres long. What is the tile’s area?
4) A rectangular garage is 7 meters wide and 11 meters long. What is its area?
5) Each side of a square piece of tissue paper is 13 centimetres long. What is the tissue paper’s area?

Challenge: The perimeter of a square piece of wood is 12 centimetres. How long is each side?

UOI:

1. Note down the rights we decide in the class that every child should have.
2. Discuss with your parents about these child rights. Though this should be every child’s rights? Why are they not available to every child? Note your answer in your UOI notebook.

Homework for 28th September 2017

## Homework for 28th September 2017

Gratitude: Money and gifts can buy almost everything – except the love of kids like you. Your words were the perfect embellishment on my birthday, your wishes have just blown me away. No matter how hard I try on my own, I will never be able to replicate the warmth you have shown. My birthday lasted just for a day but the wishes you sent me are going to make me feel special for the rest of the year. Just like how food remains tasteless without salt, my birthday celebrations would have been incomplete without your wishes. Thanks for being the SALT in my life.
Blessed to have you all…
