Inter-house Literary Event – Spell Bee – Grade 4

Dear Parents,

We are organizing the inter house literary event for the year 2017-18 i.e. ‘Spell Bee’. The objective of this literary event is to help students improve their spelling, enhance their vocabulary, learn to spell quickly and accurately. It encourages students to strive for excellence in spelling skills and other educational pursuits.

Details:

Round 1 – April 17th, 2018 (8 Students will be finalized from each house)

Round 2 – April 18th, 2018 (4 students will be finalized to represent their house as one group)

Round 3 – April 19th, 2018 (House-wise group of 4 students will compete)

Words will be taken from the dictation word list which students have attempted throughout the year and a few of words from the UOI and Math which are covered in this year.

  • Solve the following word problems:

a) How many hours are there in 180 minutes?

b) A plane can accommodate 465 passengers. If there are 31 rows of seats on the plane, how many seats are in each row?

c) Anjali baked 80 cookies and divided them equally into 8 packets. How many cookies did she put in each packet?

d) In your grade you counted 342 hands altogether. How many students were in the grade?

Students have to create advertisements of their stall for the business fair. They may create it using their ICT skill or they may make it on a piece of paper/chart. Ensure to get the print out of your ad if you are creating it online.

 

Stars of the day: Jal Gajjar, Hitansh Jain, Suhani Agrawal, Parishree Randeria and Harshika Baid (Social exceptional social skills as they worked on their planning for business fair).
