Measles and Rubella Elimination Campaign

Measles and Rubella Elimination Campaign

The Government has started Measles & Rubella campaign by providing mandatory Measles-Rubella vaccine to all the children to completely eradicate it by 2020 through its immunization programme.

  • The purpose of the Measles-Rubella campaign is to protect your child and eliminate transmission of MR  from the community by vaccinating 100% target children with MR vaccine.
  • Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign is a special campaign to vaccinate all children of 9 months to <15 years of age group with one additional dose of MR vaccine.

As per the campaign, this vaccination will be given to all children aged 3 to 15 years in school by Government health care Officials. Vaccination campaign will be conducted in school by July end. Dates for the campaign will be shared later.

This will be mandatory for all children (even though the vaccination is provided earlier) and no consent will be taken from the parents as per the government’s decision.

Session on MR campaign has been scheduled for all parents by Government health officials on 30th June 2018 from 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm at Fountainhead School (Venue-  Ybox) to address concerns, if any.

What are measles and rubella diseases?

  • Measles and Rubella are highly contagious viral diseases that are spread by contact with an infected person through coughing and sneezing.
  • Infection with Measles is followed by high fever, a rash that spreads over the body, cough, running nose and red watery eyes.
  • Measles weakens the immune system of the body. Hence infection with Measles often leads to serious complications that include blindness, encephalitis, severe diarrhoea and severe respiratory infections such as pneumonia.
  • Rubella is a mild viral infection that occurs most often in children and young adults.
  • Infection with Rubella is followed by rash and low fever. It may be associated with swelling of lymph node and joint pain.

  1. Q. Does my child need a Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign dose even if she/he has been immunized as per immunization schedule given by paediatrician/health centre?
  2. A. Yes, your child needs the additional dose being administered during the Measles Rubella vaccination campaign. This additional campaign dose will boost the immunity of child and protect the entire community by eliminating transmission of Measles and Rubella.

All children in the age group of nine months to 15 years must take the Measles and Rubella vaccine being administered in the ongoing campaign. Even those children, who have been vaccinated for measles by their paediatrician or at a health centre, should take the Measles-Rubella campaign vaccine. The vaccine is safe.

  1. How safe is the vaccine administered by Government health incharge? Are there any side effects of the MR vaccine?
  2. Majority of the MR vaccine is developed by Serum Institute,  Pune. This institution supplies MR vaccine to 70% of the world. The Central government also sources the vaccine from the same institute and supplies it to states for the campaign.

The MR vaccine which is being used in the campaign is completely safe. Like with any other injectable vaccine, there could be mild pain and redness at the injection site, low-grade fever, rash and muscle ache, which subsides on its own. The vaccine is not known to cause any other adverse effect. However, all immunization sessions – whether in schools or outreach – are linked to fully equipped health centres to handle any adverse event.

Grade Size Rate INR
Nur to Sr. Kg. Small 580/-

From Grade 1 onwards, students can buy bags as per their requirement/ choice. They can also choose to buy the bag available at School Zone (medium sized one)   if they wish to..

Please follow the guidelines below in case you are choosing a bag of your choice:

  • It should be big enough to carry a folder
  • Separate compartments for tiffin box, water bottle etc is preferable
  • Bag can be of any color. We  strongly recommend to avoid stereotypical colors (pink/ purple  for girls, blue / gray for boys) while choosing a bag
  • Trolley bags are not allowed.
  • Bag with characters like chota bheem, mickey mouse, Dora, Elsa, Spiderman, Barbie, Peppa pig, Doraemon, Hello Kitty, Motu Patlu, Minions or any other character are strictly not allowed. The reason for doing so is to minimize media influence on the child.

Despite these constraints, we assure you that you will get plenty of smart bag options in the market and we encourage you to pick up the same.

Shoes – Students can wear shoes of any brand, provided they are completely or predominantly black. Socks should also be predominantly black. Shoes and socks can be purchased from any vendor of your choice.

  1. I-Card / Parent Card:

Each parent will be issued one I-card and two Parent cards for next academic session. No bearer card will be issued.

Parent card:

We will be issuing 2 parent RFID cards (RFID – Radio Frequency Identification) to each parent for the next academic session. The Parent RFID Card will be used for the following purposes:

  1. Picking up the student from the bus stop during the drop off route.
  2. Picking up the student, while he/she is returning from nature camp, field trips, etc.
  3. Picking up the student directly from school (any person coming to pick the student has to bring the Parent RFID Card
  4. Present it as identification whenever visiting the school for any purpose.

This card will be registered in the school records in your child’s name and will be non-transferable. In case the parent card is not shown, even if you are a parent, the student will not be handed over to you. The same applies when you come to pick the child from the school.
