Dear Students,

Learned about public speaking in Grade 5? Time to recall your learnings.

1)Come prepared with a one-minute speech on International Yoga Day. You will be required to present it on Monday i.e, 25th June 2018.You need to write the speech on an A4 sheet.

2)Do you think you are aware of the current affairs? Wonder what current affairs are? Well, current affairs are events of political or social interest and importance, happening in the world at the present time.

So, how would you know what is happening in our country or in the world? You got it right!!! Listening to the news, reading the newspaper, etc can keep you informed about the current affairs.

During the weekend, listen to the news and read newspapers. While you read the newspaper, cut out the news that interested you the most. You will be given an opportunity to share it with the class on Monday.

3)Wonder how many states are there in our country? Which state do you belong to? Do you know its location on the map? Find out!!! Ask adults at home to help you do this task. How about a quiz on Monday? Come prepared.

Homework for the day:

Students will create a Google document and share it with their respective homeroom teacher.

The document will consist of 3 parts.

  1. A 100 words write up on the topic- ‘The importance of CB in the grade’.
  2. A T-chart showing the advantages and the disadvantages of using CB’.
  3. A 100 words write up on a 10-year-old’s life with and without Chromebook.

They are to name the document as Name_ICT_HW.

Note: A T-chart can be created by inserting a table of 2×2 from the insert menu. Insert > Table > select 2 horizontal boxes and two vertical boxes.

શીર્ષક: સંપ ત્યાં જંપ

એક હતો ખેડૂત. તેને પાંચ દીકરા હતા. તે બધા બળવાન અને મહેનતુ હતા. પણ તેઓ અંદરોઅંદર એકબીજા સાથે લડતા-ઝઘડતા રહેતા હતા.

ખેડૂતની ઈચ્છા હતી કે પાંચેય દીકરા ઘરમાં સંપીને શાંતિથી રહે. એટલે તે એમને ખૂબ સમજાવતો. પરંતુ ખેડૂતની સલાહની દીકરાઓ પર કોઈ અસર થતી નહિ. તેથી ખેડૂત હંમેશા ચિંતાતુર રહેતો.

એ રોજ વિચાર કરતો કે આ છોકરા સંપીને રહે તે માટે શું કરવું જોઈએ? એક દિવસ અચાનક તેને ઉકેલ મળી ગયો. તેણે પાંચેય દીકરાને પોતાની પાસે બોલાવી કહ્યું: ‘જુઓ આ લાકડાની ભારીમાંથી એક પણ લાકડી કાઢ્યા વિના આખી ભારી તમારામાંથી કોણ તોડી શકે છે?’

ખેડૂતના દરેક દીકરાએ વારાફરતી(one by one) લાકડાની એ ભારી હાથમાં લીધી. દરેકે તે ભારીને તોડવા બળપૂર્વક ખૂબ પ્રયત્ન કર્યો. પરંતુ એમાંથી કોઈ પણ એ ભારી તોડી ન શક્યો.

પછી પેલા ઘરડા ખેડૂતે કહ્યું: ‘ચાલો લાકડાની ભારી છોડી નાખો અને તેની લાકડી એક પછી એક તોડી નાખો.’ દરેકે એક પછી એક લાકડી હાથમાં લીધી અને સરળતાથી તોડી બતાવી.

પછી ખેડૂતે સલાહ આપતાં કહ્યું:

“એક એક લાકડી સહેલાઈથી તૂટી ગઈ કેમકે તે મજબૂત નહોતી. પણ એ જ લાકડીઓ જ્યારે ભારીમાં બંધાયેલી હતી ત્યારે ખૂબ જ મજબૂત હતી. તમે પણ પાંચેય જણ સંપથી રહેશો તો મજબૂત બનશો પરંતુ લડી ઝઘડીને અલગ અલગ રહેશો તો કમજોર બની જશો.”

Highlights of the cycle 1

Cycle 1 marked the beginning of the academic year. During the cycle, students revised the routines and procedures, created various class displays like door display, birthday chart, etc. The summer homework was discussed and the concepts were revised. The students’ doubts related to concepts were resolved.

Following this, the students attempted Language and Maths pre-assessment.

नोट –

1. लिखते समय सही वर्तनी (Spellings ) का विशेष ध्यान रखें |

2. अपने लेखन कार्य की दुबारा जाँच करें  | (Recheck your work )

3. गृहकार्य पूरा करके अपनी नोटबुक गुरुवार को कक्षा में जमा करवाएँ |

Dear Parent,

Please note the change in timing and venue for the PTM scheduled on 23rd June 2018 for Early Years, Grade 5 & 6.

  • It is recommended that children do not accompany the parents for PTM. Due to unavoidable reasons, if a student is accompanying the parent then she/he needs to be in the Funky Monkey Area (Block 5 – Ground Floor)
  • Timing and venue for the PTM:

You might have observed two different dustbins kept outside your classroom so as to discard the garbage. Why do you think we need these? Why did the school management take this step? Why do we need to discard wet waste and dry waste separately? What happens to these waste products once discarded by us?

Research about it and collect data from different sources. Ensure that you are recording this data in a Google doc. Name it as ‘Your name_waste management’ and share it with your homeroom teacher.

Important note regarding Student Portfolio application.

Dear Parents,

We are glad to announce that Fountainhead School is launching a new Nucleus app for Student Portfolio. This new app will replace the existing Seesaw app. It’s a collection of student work that provides a broad picture of a student’s learning journey in a particular grade. You’re requested to download this application on your android device before the PTM on 23rd June so that we can save time then, as installing the app might take a little longer due to net connectivity issues. You’ll be further briefed about the functionality of this app during the PTM . As of now this app will work on Android only and not on iOS or web interface. It will be fully functional by the end of the July month.

Nucleus fountainhead application is available on Google play store.

Please note the following points:

  1. At present we have this app  for android users only. Soon we will launch the same app for IOS users.
  2. Minimum android version for this app is Android 4.4 .
  3. Parents have to login with their parent email-id only (e.g. p.firstname.lastname@fountainheadschools.org)
  4. Parents having more than one child in Fountainhead school, can switch their child’s account via switching option in main menu.
  5. This app is work in progress and hence  more features will  be added/provided on regular intervals.

Further details about this application will  be shared during the PTM .
