Dear parents and students,

Students were back from their Diwali break, fully energized and ready for a new session of non stop fun and learning. We started of the week by going over the Diwali homework and learning how to correct our own writings. We also recapped on a few essentials for effective writing.

Students revised their fraction concepts by going over from the basics to the end. This is to prepare them for their fraction test coming up next week.

Students also took their NSO exams and watched the inter school music competition held at Fountainhead School.

Important Note:-

  • We had sent you the helping family log sheet along with the Diwali homework; please send it back by next week, as it is a part of UOI assessment.
  • Request you to send only one object which begin with letter Q/R (queen,rat,ribbon,rabbit etc by3/12/2012 , Monday for show and tell activity. Kindly write a note in the communication diary if you are sending the same.
  • Kindly send only three small size (Stamp or passport photo size) pictures for alphabet ‘Q/R’ .(Example: – queen,question mark,rose,rat,ribbon,rabbit etc by 4/12//2012, Tuesday.Kindly write a note in the communication diary if you are sending the same.
  • As a part of UOI, we are planning for one day picnic for next week. We are in search of of good place nearby, which is spacious to play and with proper shelter which can accommodate 150 students and 20 adults (approx.); maybe it’s a farm house or a picnic spot. If you own such place and interested inviting then please let us know by 3rdDecember 2012(Monday) through communication Diary.
  • Due to holidays on 12th & 13th December school will be working for students on 1st December (Day 2 will be followed) & 15th December (Day 1 will be followed)(both Saturdays).
  • Kindly practice math operation (counting, association, after-before numbers, middle-between numbers and backward-forward counting, more or less, greater than and less than) with your child. And in language identification of letters (capital and small letters) and its associations (‘A’ for apple, almond, ambulance, apron, anchor, astronaut, etc.).
  • Please keep a track on your child’s progress/learning.

Highlights of the week (27th Nov to 1st Dec)

Lang:  

(1) Shared the vacation journal with the learners and discussed about the places that they visited in Diwali Vacation.

(2) Discussed the H.W. that was given in language grammar workbook during the Diwali vacation.

(3) Learners tried to complete the Berenstain Bears W.B. in Class.

(4) Learners did one comprehension in the class from the comprehension W.B.

(5) Video Writing Prompts.

(6) Verbs Activity – Learners were given a set of flash cards in which they had to match the animal sounds. Learners were also given an another set of flash cards in which they had to make a sentence from the given word and underline the verbs in the sentence.

Math:

(1) Learners were taught the mixed operation word problems and practice for the same was given through out the week.

UOI:

Learners were taken for a Field Trip to the Science Centre. Here they saw unique things in the museum and saw a movie that had facts about the Surat city. They also visited the art gallery.
