Highlights:-

Math:- Students practiced sums on area and perimeter.

Language:- A read aloud on chapter no 2 of Matilda/George’s Marvelous medicine was done. Movie clips of chapter no 2 of Matilda (only for students who is doing the reader Matilda) was shown for better understanding.

UOI:- Students watched a video on the Geo-thermal energy. Through this a discussion on the working of Geo-thermal stations as well as how it helps in generating electricity was taken ahead. A procedural writing of the working of the same was discussed in the class

Homework:-

1. Draw, label and write a procedure writing (title, goal, materials, method and conclusion) on Geo-thermal energy.
2. 2 worksheets on math.

An introduction to Geothermal energy was given where students came to know that the heat present deep inside the earth can be used to generate electricity. The same was explained using illustrations.

MATH:

Sums related to area and perimeter were solved.

HOMEWORK:

1. Repeat the Procedure Writing for Biogas Plant.

2. Do the Procedure Writing for Geothermal Power Plant.

3. Solve the 2 worksheets on area and perimeter.

Read the poem, The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost given on Pg. 24 of your Poetry Workbook and explain the following lines.

 

-          Two roads Diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not take travel both

 

-          Because it was grassy and wanted wear

 

-          Oh, I marked the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way

I doubted if I should ever come back

 

-          I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference

The following check list will be helpful in lyric writing:

Poem Requirements:

  • Form – Your poem must be a minimum of 3 stanzas and 20 lines.
  • Rhyme – Your poem must be a combination of end rhyme, internal rhyme, and free verse.
  • Sound Devices – Your poem must include at least 2 different types of sounds devices: repetition, alliteration, assonance, consonance
  • Diction – You should pay very close attention to the words you choose to use in your poem. When we work on revision, use a thesaurus for help finding just the perfect words.
  • Imagery – Think about your reader. How can you use words and phrases to appeal to their senses and bring your poem to life? Have at least 2 strong examples of imagery.
  • Figurative Language – Your poem must include at least 2 different types of figurative language: simile, metaphor, personification, and hyperbole.
  • Speaker – Remember, you are the poet – not the speaker. Do you want your speaker to speak in past or present tense; do you want your speaker to speak infirst or third person? How old is your speaker 14, 10, 6?

The highlights of this week are as follows:

Circle Time:

Introduction of reading poem “I see the car”

Revision of reading poems: “Butterfly”, “Ten Little Fluffy chicks””bounce the ball”

(The rhyme was read by the students from the board. This helped them in enhancing their reading and oral skill).

Language:

 

Revision of following word families: “ag” “ake” “ack” & “ale”

Revision of sight words other, more, before

Introduction of NEW High Frequency words “boy, saw, his &her”.
UOI:

Videos related to different habitat was shown to generate curiosity. Learners were provoked to think about the reasons that lead an animal to survive in their natural habitat. From the grassland/Forest habitat these animals were discussed: Lion, Bear, Giraffe, Rhino & Deer.

From the Snow habitat :Penguin, Polar bear & other animals were discussed using toys animals.

Following books were Read-a-loud in the class:

Fish is fish by Leo Lionni

Math:

  • Revision of half past clock.
  • Revision of number names: 18, 19, and 20.
