Highlights:

U.O.I:

Learners were introduced to geothermal energy and were given formative assessment on Kinetic energy and Potential energy.

Maths:

Workstation based formative assessment on area and perimeter.

Language:

Learners were introduced to figurative language and later Similes and Metaphors were discussed in detail.

Homework:

Maths worksheets- 3

Practice work- 1 page of language writing.

Dear Parents,

Highlights of this week are as follows:

Circle Time:

Introduction of new poem for reading- ‘Sally goes round the Sun”

Revision of the poems for reading- I see a car, Bounce the ball, Butterfly.

Language:

  • Revision of word family words ( ale, ar, ap, ack, ake, an, ad)
  • Introduction of High frequency words: saw, put, his, her, boy.

Writing of the same words in notebook.

  • Reading of “The Foot book”.

Math:

  • Introduction of Number name: Thirty (30)
  • Revision of number names 1 to 30.
  • Revision of O’ clock and half past clock.
  • Revision of three and four attributes patterns.
  • Revision of Backward Counting 80 to 1

UOI 4:

Central Idea: – Animals adapt to survive in their natural habitat.

Going Further Stage:

  • Characteristics of animals of :

Snow habitat- Penguin, Seal, Polar Bear.

 

Videos were shown related to these animals. We talked about their eating habits, habitat, physical features.

Celebration: –

Christmas was celebrated during the Assembly.

Home work:

Language: Workbook pg 35

Math: Number names 11 to 30.

Learners are practicing for their X-box performance. Summative Assessment presentations are done of the unit- Places have characteristics that make them unique. Those who were absent in these days, their assessment will be taken on 2nd Jan.

28/12/2012 Grade 07 Language Update and Assignment

Updates: Students have completed their reflections on the nature camp adhering to the assigned format. They have endeavored to make an enriched word wall for the class (as a part of the books they have read as an extended reading circle project). They have read the story as well as watched the video of the short story ‘The Landlady’ by Roald Dahl. On the basis of the short story, they have understood scientific terminologies like Taxidermy and Embalming through videos/discussions, and comprehending the difference between both. The copies of Language in Context as well as The Landlady Context have been handed over to enhance their contextual understanding of the story.

Assignment: To read and complete the given worksheets on Language in Context as well as The Landlady Context by 02/01/2013.

Water Habitat- Whale, jellyfish, crocodile and alligator.

Videos were shown related to these animals. We talked about their eating habits, habitat, physical features etc. We also talked about the differences between the whale and other fishes. Differences of crocodile and alligator were also discussed.

.Celebration: - Christmas was celebrated during the Assembly.

Home work:

Write the HF words (saw, put, his, her, boy) 3 times and frame                      sentences with the same.

Math: Number names 11 to 30.

Circle Time

  • Revision of all the rhymes done till date.
  • Revision of all questions done till date like: What is your name?, What is your school name? etc.

UOI: How we organize ourselves

Central idea: Transportation can connect communities near and far.

UOI: How we express ourselves

Language:-

Various read alouds were done to engage their interest for reading books. The following books were done:

  • Thomas the engine
  • Colors

Listening and Speaking skills:

Learners saw the videos of the story: “Hare and The Tortoise, Thirsty Crow, etc” and were asked to say what they listened.

Word of the week: Communicator

Summative assessment.

Visual arts: Learners were asked to stick cotton on the face of ‘SANTA’ and red color velvet paper on his cap.

Math

  • Introduction of number 15
  • Introduction of inside-outside
  • Revision of all Pre math concepts like: Front- back, big.-small, full-empty etc
  • Revision of numbers 1-15

Important Note:

  • Winter vacation will be from 29th to 1st Jan 2013 .School will open on 2nd Jan 2013.
  • Please ensure that your ward should be present in school every day as assessments are going on.
  • On 5th January Jr.KG and Nursery has night out. Circular for the same will be sent to you in the next week.
  • Revise all the mathematical operations taught to them in this term.
