National Karate Camp 2012

National Karate Camp 2012

I have been a regular participant at the National  Karate camps since 1996. After the  5th World Go Ju Kai karate –Do Championship which was  held in South Africa in 2009, I  received news from some sources that the 6th Go Ju Kai Karate – Do World championship would be  held in India in 2013. This news was enough for me to dream for my students to participate in this tournament. Without  much ado,  I started training my students & they responded well, I got the go ahead from the Head of School  to attend the  national camp in 2010 and 5 FS students  participated  their first National Karate Camp at Chattrapati Shivaji Commonwealth Stadium, Pune . The camp was held from 25th December to 30th December 2010. Though not all won medals, but they performed well which was a positive sign for me. In 2011, 9 students were  interested  in attending the National camp and 7 of them won medals at the National tournament. In 2012 there were many students ready to attend the camp but according to technical knowledge and interest I was able to select only 11 participants.

In this camp there was a preliminary selection for the 2013 World tournament which will be held in Mumbai, India, where from every category they will be selecting the top 20 students. The selection system is based on rank, which means each and every child will get an opportunity to perform, on the basis of their performance they will be given marks according to their performance and in turn, according to the marks they will be ranked. The top 20 rankers will be selected for the second round of World tournament selection. The next round will be held in April where all these participants will face one more selection round and the top 5 will get an opportunity to participate in the 6th World Gojukai Karate –Do Championship.
All 11 children received medals in the National tournament and all of them are in top 20 in their age categories.
The detailed result is as below:
