The figure of speech ‘Personification’ was introduced. The learners recited few poems. Math homework was discussed and the learners cleared their doubts. The learners answered the few questions asked related to the new unit.

Circle Time:

  • Revision of all the rhymes done till date.
  • Morning Message:
  1. How is the weather?

The Weather is pleasant\sunny\cold.

2.What is your school’s name?

My school’s name is Fountainhead.

UOI: – Plants: Explanation of living and non living things

  •  Frayer’s Model: The page was divided into 4 parts, in 1st part definition of plants, 2nd part characteristics of plant, 3rd part examples of living thing and 4th part nonliving thing were written. This was noted on the basis of the students’ prior knowledge.

UOI- Stories: Stories can engage the audience and communicate the meaning.

Students were asked to chose their favorite character and draw story stating Beginning, middle and ending part.

Language:-

  • Word of the week: ‘Principled’
  • Revision of alphabets “A-X” along with sounds.
  • High frequency words: –

Introduction: any, the, was, are, old

 Revision of words (I, she, he, me, we, go, no, so, to, do, up, my, as, at, or, us, by, am, in, you, saw, the, one, two)

Math:

  • Revision of number 21,22,23,24 and 25 orally
  • Revision for of the concept ascending through picture (size)
  • Introduction of 3D shape cube shape
  • Revision of pattern with manipulative (2 attributes) with rule of AB
  • Revision of Pre-math concepts: in-out, up-down, narrow-wide, near-far, fat-thin, dry-wet
  • Please revise more/less perfectly for introduction of ascending numbers.

Free Play:

  • Construction\wooden Blocks
  • Lacing boards
  • Easel and rollers
  • Rolling pins and clay
  • Thumb printing: Introduction of secondary color through thumb printing.

Important Note:-

  • Dear parents kindly make a point to converse with your child in English.
  • Kindly send one cube shape objects by 31/1/2013 Thursday. It will be kept in class till the end of the curriculum.
  • Kindly send old magazines which have pictures related to our current UOI- Plants (Ignore if you have already sent).
  • Kindly practice math operations (counting, association, after\before numbers, middle\between numbers and backward-forward counting, more or less, greater than and less than) with your child. And in language practice identification of letters (capital and small letters) and its associations (‘A’ for apple, almond, ambulance, apron, anchor, astronaut, etc.)
  • Please keep a track on your child’s progress/learning.

Highlights of the week – 22nd – 25th Jan – Imagine

Language: Oral revision of grammar was done.

The learners also played a game on verb (revision) – Jump of joy. The learners in a group of 4 had to jump when a verb comes in the sentence. The learners frammed on  their own sentences which had a verb in it.

Circle Time:

Music and Movement activity: The morning Strut song from “Music by Mar”

Circle time question: How do you feel today?
Teachers displayed the different smileys & children went in that corner to express their feelings.

Reading of the reader- One fish, two fish- by Dr.Suess.

Word of the week: Verbal & Non-verbal

Read aloud:

  • “A bit Scary” by Gill Davies
  • Snow White

Language :

Introduction of ‘ip’ family: dip, hip, lip, sip, tip, zip, slip, ship, clip, flip.

Writing of these words in notebook.

Worksheet on ‘it’ and ‘ip’ family.

Revision of the “it” word families through pictures and word flash cards.

Revision of the high frequency words.

UOI : HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES:

Central Idea- We can express ourselves in different ways.

Tuning In activity:

  •  Teacher displayed  different  expressions and learners went in that corner to express their feelings.
  • Gallery walk- Different paintings were put up and learners were taken for a  gallery walk. They reflected what came to their mind after looking at each picture through visual arts.   They came up with happy, sad, scared, enjoying, etc.
  •  Mime Act: Juhi Ma’am ( Drama teacher) visited the class and showed different expressions and her feelings through facial gestures and actions.

This led to the understanding that we can express ourselves by speaking ( verbally ) and also without speaking ( non- verbally).

Visual Art activity: Free hand painting using different art materials.
