Subject: Maths

This is to remind all the students of Grade 7 and 8 to register in heymath through your parents email id which was written in the form today. Ask your parents to check their emails, a mail would have been sent on it by heymath. In that, click on the link and fill up the form and submit it. You would receive user id and password from heymath on your school id. Today is the last day for this.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Sharing the planet: Learners went on a nature walk to observe the natural environment and how it is used. Teachers took their reflection using the graffiti board. Two chart papers were stuck on the soft board with two questions. ‘What do you mean by natural environment and how do we use it?’ They were free to express their understanding through writing/drawing. Learners exhibited understanding about the usage of natural resources.

Language

1) Learners were introduced with the ‘ch’ and ‘sh’ blend. They wrote as many words as they knew, starting from ‘ch’ and ‘sh’. They wrote a few words (given by the teacher) 3 times which they need to learn.

2) Learners were informally introduced to the prepositions through the “Boogie Woogie” song. Later, a discussion on their use, that the words which show you the position are known as prepositions. In grade 1, we have introduced only a few prepositions. They are in, on under, over, near and between.

3) Dictation was conducted on the new sight words.

Math

Learners revised 2 and 3 digits addition (without regrouping) sums. Learners were introduced with the regrouping addition using Monteiro cubes. They also practiced 2 digit regrouping sums in their notebook using the H-T-O format.

UOI- The students are preparing their presentation of the skeletal system. They formed the skeleton by sticking the parts of the skeleton  on the chart paper and labelled the bones of the skeletal system.

Language- Literary Event- Read aloud competition was conducted in the classes. Students also voted by showing hands that whose read aloud they liked the best. Overall, it was a learning for the other students as well because they appreciated the finalists and the style of reading.
Math- Students solved 2 digits by 2 digits multiplication sums on the board after they were taught the skill.
Learning Outcome- To demonstrate understanding of the numerical operations in a variety of contexts by applying appropriate strategies.
Assembly- Inter house Drama Competition.
Homework- Math sums in the notebook.
Research on the skeletal system and write those points in the book so that you can write it in the presentation that you are preparing in the school.

Language: Read aloud was done in the class “Aurthur’s Birthday” written by Marc Brown. Learners were also introduced 10 new spellings- “Amelia”, “Bedelia”, “edges”, “vertices”, “prism”, “pyramid”, “cuboid”, “triangular”, “cylinder” and “sphere”, which they practiced orally.

Oral Strategy: Learners played “Fire Squad” game where they were given a word and they had to speak which ever first word comes in their mind after listening to the word given to them.

Homework: Please practice the new spellings given in language today.

Single Subject: Hindi.

Note: Attended assembly today where learners enjoyed watching Inter-House drama competition, the winners of “Bhasha Divas” received certificates for the same.

Today we have done Gujarati poem “રંગીલા રંગીલા પતંગિયા ” in the class. Ask your child to recite that poem and help them to sing that poem.(you can take help of  Poem worksheet which we have send in the begining of the unit.)

They have to prepare one chart of five birds. Parents, You can help them to mention the name in Gujarati.

Circle Time- Students shared My News, where students shared their good and bad experiences they had in the past week.

Today was an eventful day- loads of fun and learning. What better way to describe it then to have close look at it!

Math: Students learnt mean, median, mode and range through 4 differentiated learning centers. Below are the pictures of it.

Language:

Students debated on the topic “Ethics can be compromised to earn profit“.  They had made great attempt to analyze the topic, collect information and maintain a positive attitude however it requires some more focus on collection of variety of information, synthesizing it and making it relevant at the time.

UOI: We had a parent guest speaker to talk about her business setup.

 

Homework:

Math: Group 1 and 2 need to start working on their comic strip and song/poetry creation. Group 3 and 4 need to complete the mean and median,mode, range ws. Due date is 3 Oct but you need to show your work in progress tomorrow.

Math:

Learners practiced the word problems where they were introduced with the new symbol of rupees and the term “amount of” (eg. amount of PSP, amount of remote control car, etc). The enduring understanding of this was to teach them the difference between  the quantity and the amount.

Homework:

Stick the 3D shapes on a piece of chart paper as well as write the name of the same.

Example:- Cone- (stick a small party hat in front of the name of the 3D shape).
