English Assessments for Term 1, Total marks: 100

Duration: 2 hours, 10 minutes

Language Component: 50 marks

  • Reading comprehension
  • Punctuation
  • Basic Grammar
  • Writing

Literature Component: 50 marks

  • Two descriptive answers based on excerpts from King Lear
  • The following skills will be tested:
  1. Analytic skills
  2. Writer’s effects
  3. Theme and character interpretation

NOTE:

  • Text from King Lear need not be memorised, relevant text will be provided
  • Special credit will be given to answers that are precise
  • Descriptive answers will be assessed on the basis of rubrics that have already been shared with the students.

Math :-Revising fraction using Khan academy  

Language:- Oral presentation of the descriptive writing piece on “Ganesha”.  Feed back was given on  their descriptive piece and this helped themto revise the criteria of writing descriptive piece.

Home work:-

Language :- Rewrite a descriptive piece on Lord Ganesha in 150 words using descriptive writing keeping in mind the feedback given.  

Read chapter 1 from your reader, underline new words ,  find the meaning and enter in your word wizard book.

Math :-  Go through the videos and exercise on fraction taken up in the class and also solve the fraction word problem 1 in your note book .

Math: We checked the formative paper and clarified our doubts.

Language: We used our research skills and worked in groups to understand the characters -Bats, Brambles and cormorants from a story in Empowering English.

UOI: We tuned into our new unit through; “Passing the box”activity; where we listed down our understanding of a  key words  and answered certain questions related to the unit.

Homework:

Language:

  • Revise the grammar given earlier.
  • Find the meanings of words like economy, resale price, goods, service

Mathematics:

  • Solve the formative assessment paper in your Math notebook or paper.
