Culmination of Materials Unit

Culmination of Materials Unit

On 6th of September, few parents of Jr.KG had volunteered for the culmination of the UOI. They coordinated and planned amazing activities for the students, which helped them to understand that students were clear with the concepts taught and reflected the same while performing different activities.  In all the activities, visual art was integrated.  Students thoroughly enjoyed exploring different centers with different materials and reinforced all the concepts taught.  This even helped the parents to understand how their children are learning in school.

We express our gratitude to all the parents who participated and made the event a success.

Looking forward for more parental involvement in the future too.

Inter House Drawing Competition

Inter House Drawing Competition

“We provide students an environment where they enjoy learning fearlessly; empower themselves to explore, express and analyse themselves and the world around them”- Arts team vision

At Fountainhead School,  every team follows a vision which is made by the team members keeping in mind the students goals, ambitions, opportunities and growth. The above mentioned vision has been made by the “Arts team”. The very 1st Arts competition of this academic year was the Inter House Drawing Competition. Students from Grade 1- Grade 10 actively participated in this competition. It was open for all students and any student could register for it; there were no limitations or auditions for the same. The response was amazing, with 293 students contributing to the success of this event.

Age appropriate topics were given and all students were categorized in 5 groups – Grade 1 & 2, Grade 3 & 4, grade 5 & 6, Grade 7 & 8 and Grade 9 & 10. Different venues were decided and all the requirements were posted on the school blog.

Students enjoyed the competition to the fullest. They seemed to celebrate the competition like an art festival; fearlessly drawing, creating patterns and stroking colours onto the white sheet adding beauty to it. Everything seemed colourful and pleasant, as these young ones expressed their creativity. We teachers, were privileged to witness such an enthusiastic young crowd of artists. Soon the winners of ‘Inter House Drawing Competition’ will be participating in “Inter School Drawing Competition” hosted by our school. We convey our best wishes to them. Considering the dedication and willingness of the participants, we had some special incentive: the “Bal-artist Competition”.

Around 40 students showed interest and participated in the “Bal-artist Competition” conducted by “Jainam group” on Saturday, 20th July . Further, from amongst these 40 students, 6 students (Samashti Patel, Pratham Tekriwal, Khushi Gajjar, Subha Agarwal, Swani Shah and Khushi Mehta) were selected for “Inter School Bal-artist Competition” held on Sunday, 21st July . We are proud that our student KHUSHI MEHTA (Grade 8) got selected for “District Level Inter School Bal-artist Drawing Competition”  held on 5th September 2013.

We look forward to create various opportunities for students to express themselves through arts and take one step ahead towards arts vision.

Grade-1 Amity: Highlights of the week (16th September to 21st September 2013)

Grade-1 Amity: Highlights of the week (16th September to 21st September 2013)

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Teacher took up an inquiry connected to the nature walk in class. A chart paper was displayed with two questions written on it. The first question was, “What do you mean by natural environment ?” and the other question was “How do we use it?”   Students were asked to draw or write their understanding on it. (Graffiti board). Once students had put up their prior understanding about natural environment, a class discussion was conducted on the same context.

Language

The week started with introduction of  preposition in context with boogie woogie song from Empowering English lesson 2.  Teacher introduced preposition by reciting the song and asked students about the words used like “in, out, around” etc. After the discussion, teacher told them that, “ These words are showing position of a particular object and that is why they are known as “Preposition”.

Introduction of “Ch” blend .Learners wrote some ‘ch’ blends words in their notebooks three times.

Math

Introduced  numbers and number names from 250 to 350.

Revision of simple 2-3 digit Addition was done. With the revision of that learners learnt the regrouping addition using Monteiro cubes.
