Math: Students revised the concepts learnt under Measures of Central Tendency through various learning centers (Visual, Auditory,Kinesthetic and Linguistic).

Language: We had a Debate in class on the topic- “Ethics can be compromised to earn profit in business

UOI: We understood the Factors required to start a business and the Risks and rewards of running a business through an interative session by Ms. Nimisha Trivedi.

Homework:

Math: Complete the Learning Center tasks /worksheets (Date of submission: 3rd October). All who had worked on the visual center (Cartoon strip) today, can create cartoon strip usingany of the following online tools.

Language

Learners were asked to read a book from the class library, they were then asked to find the meaning of the difficult words from the dictionary which they came across while reading the book.

Learners explored the Reader “Come back Amelia Bedelia” by Peggy Parish followed by a worksheet in which they were asked to write about the picture given to them.

Learners were introduced 10 new spellings- “Amelia”, “Bedelia”, “edges”, “vertices”, “prism”, “pyramid”, “cuboid”, “triangular”, “cylinder” and “sphere”.

Math

Market Simulation was done for addition word problems.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

As a part of Tuning in activity of the unit “How the world works” learners explored the exploration tables on which different objects made from materials- “glass”, “wood”, “metal” and “plastic” were displayed. While exploring the objects learners solved a worksheet having a table in which they answered the following criteria:

 

Name of the object Material it is made of Describe the material Name one more object made of this material

UOI: Students had their second lab visit in which they got to witness real life chemical experiments understanding new scientific terminology put into action. Oxidation, combustion, exothermic reaction along with the differences of acids and bases; students got to explore a variety of chemical changes which they don’t normally encounter in their daily life.

Math: Students revised and practiced sums on Equivalent, Ordering, comparing and addition of fractions.

Language: They took spellings test and read chapter 3 from the reader.

Homework

Language: Read Chapter 3 from the reader.

UOI: Make a fair draft of the experiments you observed and the chemical reactions you identified.

UOI- The students are preparing their presentation of the skeletal system. They formed the skeleton by sticking the parts of the skeleton  on the chart paper and labelled the bones of the skeletal system. 

Math- Each student solved 2 digits by 2 digits multiplication sums on the board after they were taught the skill.
Learning Outcome- To demonstrate understanding of the numerical operations in a variety of contexts by applying appropriate strategies.
Language- Literary Event- Read aloud competition was conducted in the classes. Overall, it was a learning for the other students as well because they appreciated the finalists and the style of reading. 
 
Assembly- Inter house Drama Competition.
 
Homework- Math learn all tables.
Research on the skeletal system and write those points in the book so that you can write it in the presentation that you are preparing in the school.

UOI- The students are preparing their presentation of the skeletal system. They formed the skeleton by sticking the parts of the skeleton  on the chart paper and labelled the bones of the skeletal system.

Learning Intention: How to research on a particular topic like the human body systems, keeping in mind the key concepts form, function, and connection?

Central Idea was also derived through jumble word activity. Where students had to form the central idea by arranging the words and forming a correct central idea. This was an group activity.

Language- Literary Event- Read aloud competition was conducted in the classes. Students also voted by showing hands that whose read aloud they liked the best. Overall, it was a learning for the other students as well because they appreciated the finalists and the style of reading.

Math- Students checked their homework by peer checking. They also solved more multiplication sums in their math notebook.

The learners practiced addition word problems through market simulation. They were introduced the term rupees and amount. They also practiced 3D shapes with manipulative (wooden shapes)  and  with jodo sticks they were asked to make the 3 D shapes.

Language

Cross checking of article worksheet was done. They also revised articles orally. 10 new words strip sent.

[Circle Time]

Learners were asked to think of a new word that no one knows in the class. Learners came up with words like vessel, dither, etc. Later these words were explained to the learners along with their meanings.

Note:- Parents are requested not to disclose the name of the unit that I have mentioned above as it will be uncovered by learners in the class in the form of an inquiry.

UOI -:Students were taken to science lab to observe the chemical changes happening in the experiment being performed. Students were able to identify the types of reaction taking place. They got the understanding about terms oxidation, exothermic , precipitation, effervescence and combustion in a chemical reaction. Students were curious and enthusiastic throughout this activity.

Math -: Students practiced sums on equivalent fraction.

Homework -: 

Language -: Read chapter – 4 from the book “The Firework- Maker’s Daughter”. Write the events that occurred in the  beginning, middle and the end of this chapter . For this you can use any A4-size paper for writing.

Math -: Complete the given worksheets.

Mathematics: We had differentiated learning centers based on different learning styles( Auditory, kniesthetic, visual and linguistic). We thoroughly enjoyed and cemented our concepts of data handling.Have a sneak peek…

 

Language: What an opportunity to learn from our peers…we had a debate; it was related to our current UOI topic on “Business” ( Ethics can be compromised for profit)and we learned and implemented the way to have civilized arguments..and hope to have such civilized arguments for every interaction in future. Just look at our body language….

 

UOI: We had an interactive guest speaker session with one of our parent Ms. Nimisha Trivedi on ; the factors responsible for running a  business and risks and rewards involved in operating a business. She talked and listened patiently to all the queries put up by our learners regarding her travel agency-Cox and kings”…Here are a few snap shots from the session…
