Language

As a part of activities given in Empowering English the learners were asked to list down the words which ends with ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“-erÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢. They also practiced punctuation marks by writing the sentences given in the book with proper punctuation.

Enduring Understanding-Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â This activity was done to develop their vocabulary and revise the concepts of punctuation marks.

Read page number- 5 to 10 “Come back Amelia Bedelia” book by Peggy Parish with the learners.

Enduring Understanding- Learners enhanced their reading skills through this.

Revised spellings of the week orally.

Introduced homonyms through an activity. Some words were written on chits and the learners were asked to frame sentences on the same and wrote it in their language notebook. Learners themselves came up with the definition i.e. ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â Words that have the same sound and spelling but different meaning are known as homonyms.” After this learners made Venn diagram on homophones and homonyms where they wrote the similarities and differences of this.

Example: watch, light, right, lift, etc.

Enduring Understanding- Learners came across a new concept in grammar.

Math

Learners drew 3 D shapes- Triangular Prism, Square based pyramid and Triangular based pyramid alongwith its properties (vertices, edges, faces and curved surface). They did this on the basis of shapes that they made yesterday using toothpicks and clay.

Enduring Understanding- Learners did play-based learning and were clear with the concepts of these new shapes.

U.O.I:

Rope Activity: Learners were asked to stand in a circle and they were tied with a rope tightly. They were asked to move around within theÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â circle. They observed that they could not move individually but could move as a group. Then the rope was slightly loosen and they discovered that they can move a bit freely and lastly the rope was left and they discovered that now they can move freely, anywhere. It was then followed by an oral discussion. Learners themselves came up with the states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. Learners even wrote in their U.O.I book, the diagram and the definitions of the various states of matter.

Enduring Understanding:Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Learners came to know about the molecules of the state of matters: solid, liquid and gas.

Language:

1) Reading: Students selected a book of their choice, read it and wrote the answers in their notebooks.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â They connected their story with the key concepts and wrote it in the graphic organizer.
Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â 2) Writing: Students selected a topic, some verbs and some adjectives of their choice and wrote a paragraph in their notebooks.
3) Listening:Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Students heard the story through the listening station deviceÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â and responded using the key concepts.
4) Vocabulary: Students matched the meanings to their words.
5) Dictionary: Students used their human body dictionary and arranged the words in alphabetical order in theirÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â notebooks.

Learning outcome- To enhance their oral, aural, reading and writing skills.

UOI:Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â A read aloud of the book- Judy Moody M.D Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â by Megan McDonald was done with the students. The main purpose for this read aloud was to giveÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â them ideas about innovative ways of presentation.
Research groups were made and each group was allocatedÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â a human body system.
