Tuning in of “Heat”:

The teacher took students out in the sun and they were asked to sit there for some time. Later the teacher took an inquiry in the classroom and asked students about how they felt. Students reflected that they felt hot because of the sun. Later the teacher discussed the heat element and students gave real life examples for the same.

 Property of heat:

1.Objects expand when heated:

Teacher demonstrated an activity with the help of a thermometer and water.First the teacher took some hot water and dipped the thermometer in it, then asked students to observe the  mercury present in the thermometer. Later, she did the same using cold water. Then, a discussion was conducted where the teacher recorded the difference in the answer for both the scenarios. After this teacher discussed the 1st property” that objects expand when heated”.

2. Property: Heat can be transformed from one object to another.

4 exploration tables were kept and students were divided in groups of 5. On each table one beaker with hot water and another with cold water was kept. Students were asked to explore. Later teacher took an inquiry and students reflected that when they mixed the hot and cold water, the water became warm .After this students also reflected on  real life connections .
