Learners were taken to the dark room and were shown how the day and night is formed with the help of a Globe and a torch. The light was thrown on the Globe from one side with the help of torch. This helped the students understand that the part of the earth that gets light has day. The students then reflected that the part of the earth that does not get light has night. This activity helped the students understand the concept that  the rotation of the earth around its axis causes day and night.

Reflection of rotation showing how days and nights are formed.

Walk with the lions

Grade 2 – Dream, Explore, Think and Create went to Gir as a part of their educational trip. The trip had been exciting and stimulating for the learners. It was a great feeling to see the kids enjoying so much especially after a lot of apprehensions coming from parents prior to the trip.
We appreciate our children for their punctuality they had shown in taking bath and getting ready for the day. They have been a good bunch to go with! Cheers to their independent behaviour, responsibility and punctuality.

The children had a great time in bus playing games, singing, dancing and of course, sleeping. We saw lions, jackals, crocodiles, turtles, spotted Deer and many other. The nature club volunteer talked about the habitat of the animals, life, food and the human actions taken.
In the night, we had the tribal of the area perform their dance. Their faces were quite scary, but the fountainhead children joined them enthusiastically in their dance.
Soon it was time to leave for Surat. Many of us wanted to stay there for one more day to enjoy with the lions of Gir! We, as teachers in the school, also loved this trip with the 2nd graders.

Here are some pictures which will give you to get an insight of the trip.
