## Gearing up for a new unit…..

Our new unit “Healthy life style” began with a Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â gallery walk. Pictures related to food, hygiene, daily routine, exercise and unhealthy food were shown.

The gallery walk was followed by a discussion, during which the Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â learners came up with the word “Healthy”.

The learners reflected on their daily routine which led them to the term “Life style”. The Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â whole class discussed it in the form of a mind map.

Learners of Sr KG Sparkle and Shine were engaged in a guided play session of LESS and MORE.

Here they had to group themselves (in TENS and ONES) according to the number given.

They were then asked to reflect , as to which group had more members. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â After showing them the sign of ” Greater than” , they answered that the big mouth of crocodile will eat the group which had more members.

Settling Time:

Learners found 3 colours from the class and wrote 2 objects of the same colour

Unit of Inquiry:

Learners were given exposure for ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œBengaliÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â culture through a guest speaker session

Language:

Learners watched a video on ‘Proper noun and common noun’ and did an activity on the same.

Language with ease:

Learners revised their concepts through the exercise given in this reference book.

Math:

Learners revised the concept of clock and ‘5 minutes past’ and ’10 minutes past’ concept was taken forward.

Learners practiced subtraction without regrouping using montero cubes in the class.

Homework:

Learners need to solve the clock worksheet given.

Learners solved the “clean up” worksheet where they used their creativity and thinking skills to do the same.

Language

Language Development:Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Learners practiced the grammar concepts from Language with ease reference book.

Math

Learners practiced the concept of clock for 5 minutes and 10 minutes orally in the class.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Learners attended the guest session on Bengali culture. Later on, they discussed on the same.

Read the book “The original story of Winnie the Pooh” from the series of Winnie the Pooh.

Homework

Learners have to solve the math worksheet.

Note: Tomorrow roll number 13 needs to bring the story on the words given and a new word.

Parents need to help the kids in doing the homework and if they are not able to do it, kindly send it back tomorrow with a note on the worksheet.

[Highlight Of The Day]

Language

Students took the first step to research writing. They revisited the process to select the book appropriate for the topic of research. They noted down the criteria to skim an article. They also skimmed an article in the class as an whole class activity.

[Unit Of Inquiry] Under the ‘finding out’ stage of the inquiry cycle ,the students constructed their food chain. They participated in food web activity to understand the flow of energy and effect of extinction and natural pressures Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â ( flood, tsunami. earthquake) on the food web.

Math

The student constructed the meaning using Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â A4 paper to acquire a Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â deeper understanding of multiplication of fraction with fraction. For e.g 2/3 *4/5

UOI: Sharing the planet:

Students understood the concept of how ecosystems work and how are they connected to each other through the discussion and video. They got very good understanding of how the ecosystems are interdependent. They also made their own food chain. Later they made food web by connecting to each ecosystem.

Math:

Students understood the concept of multiplication through hands on activity.

WWE:

Continued with the research writing. They understood how to scan a book. They wrote down the steps in their notebook.
