Highlights of the week for IBDP(Gr11)

Dear Parents,

This week we completed with vectors & its property,Resolving vectors,sums based on vectors from textbook and external resources(IB).We also started with new topic Kinematics and connected it with real life examples to give learners a better understanding.We gave the Homework  regarding same on the blog.

Highlights of the week 3rd August-8th August.

 

Circle Time :

Revision of the rhymes done till date.

Introduction of  new rhymes: Magic finger, Softly softly.

Learners enjoyed circle time with different rhymes like  I twiddle my thumb, Where is thumbkin etc.

They enjoyed Monsoon season rhymes in various language : I hear thunder, Rain rain go away, Barish ayi cham cham cham, Aav re varsad.

 

UOI:

Central idea:We use our senses to discover and understand the world.

Activities done this week:

Clay making activity for Sense of Touch:

Learners observed the process of making clay .They took note of different materials used in clay making like maida, baking powder, oil, cooking color, water and understood the concept of change. During this activity they came across new vocabulary such as squeeze, press, bend, twist, roll, break, spread, lumpy, grainy etc.

This activity helped them to understand that we touch and feel from our skin that is known as sense of touch.

 

Language:  

Visual skills:  Learners were shown moral stories videos. This helped them to learn new vocabulary and also helped them in enhancing their listening skills.

Word of the week:  Squeeze, lumpy.

Read Aloud:

 

  • Teachers did read aloud of the various stories:

This activity helped in enhancing their listening skills and vocabulary.

Listening & Visual skills

Learners were asked to see various action songs  and do the actions accordingly.

This activity helped in enhancing their viewing, listening and gross motor skills and helped in developing their vocabulary.

 

MATH:

Revision of pre math concepts.

Introduction of Cube Shape by  videos and real life objects and also by Show and tell of Cube shape objects.

Worksheet of Bindi Sticking on the outline of cube shape.

Introduction of Yellow colour by real life objects and the colouring in the sun.

 

Clay time:

Learners were given clay and were asked to make an object of their wish.

This activity helped in enhancing their thinking and fine motor skills.

Visual arts:   Free Palm printing on chart paper.

Colouring in the picture of Sun:

Learners were asked to do colouring in the picture of boat.

This activity helped in enhancing their Fine motor skills.

 

Free Play:

Learners were given different toys like: Wooden blocks, Soft toys, Kitchen set, Rangometris, Jodo blocks and were asked to play with it.

They enjoyed playing with the toys and mingled up with their friends.

This activity helped in enhancing their Social skills.

 

Important note:

Parents kindly take a note:

 

  • Kindly send the library book on , Tuesday 13th August.
  • We have sent homework worksheet. Kindly make your child do Chole sticking in the Cube send it on Monday.

 

●     Kindly converse with your child in English and  encourage them to converse in English.

●     If your child is reflecting at home, then please inform the respective HRT (home room teacher) through the blog or communication diary.

●     Kindly remove all the circulars from the diary.

 

  • Kindly send napkins everyday in their bag.
  • Kindly send a yellow colour object for show and tell activity.

Subject: Math

Topic: Place-value, rounding and ordering

Highlights: Students solved worksheet no- 11, 12, 13 and 14 on the above mentioned topic in class as well as at home which were later discussed in detail in the class. Doubts related to Asset practice booklet were done in one of the classes. Doubts related to rounding off the numbers to its nearest tenth and hundredth position were catered in one of the classes. Along with this, few of the checkpoint exercises of the above mentioned topic were discussed with the students in the class.

Also, students were asked to present their scores obtained by them on solving 2 online sites which had mcqs on rounding off the numbers on A-4 size color paper. Everyone participated enthusiastically. Glimpses of some are shown below.

Grade 11 Biology highlights

Grade 11 Biology highlights

Grade 11 Biology students gave presentation on different organisms in a team. Students performed an experiment on surface area to volume ratio using agar plate, phenolphthalein, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. They wrote their observation as a comment in the google classroom. A test of 15 marks was taken to give them an idea of the questions asked in IBDP papers. Later, they saw a video on C. elegans and made an online map as an assignment on goggle classroom.
