Highlights – Students learnt a poem THE CHIMNEY SWEEPER by William Blake. The poem was discussed and analysed in the class and students have been given language homework based on the poem. Their Unit Test was taken in the previous week and after correction the paper was discussed with the students so as to make them understand their grammatical errors in the test. The students were informed about the Internal Assessment. They have been assigned a research work on CHILD LABOR which will be marked once they submit their work. This research work is the part of their internal assessment which carries 30 marks.
For those who forget to do their homework , here’s a reminder. Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Students, you need to write the answers to the following questions in your Language book.
Biology students studied different models of membrane structure and studied “Fluid mosaic model”. In addition they learnt membrane transport and as an application of their knowledge they learnt dialysis and organ transplant. We later discussed the falsifications of other models.

The students wrote a 25 marksÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â unit test for the completed unit viz. Markets and customers this week. We also began our next unit ‘Importance of Finance’ and covered a few key terms like savings, investments, fixed and working capital, different types of expenses viz capital, revenue and deferred revenue. The students were also given an introduction to elementary accountancy like real accounts, personal accounts and nominal accounts, the balance sheet and profit and loss account and the meaning of double entry system of accounting and thereby the arising debit and credit effect. Sufficient time was spent explaining these concepts to the students and at the end of the session the students were able to successfully comprehend why capital is a liability for the business and what exactly is the meaning of assets. Deferred revenue expenses will be taken up in detail in the next cycle.
Most students were also ready with their task one of the coursework and a few students submitted the reports too. Students who have not submitted the report are requested to do so without fail on Thursday, August 28, 2014 (day 3)
We initiated a new unit on Quadratic equations ,as this does consists of technical concepts tremendously ,as a part of tuning in activity a worksheet was being shared which contained the gist of the mathematical concepts to be introduced later on.
After gaining sound knowledge about the unit Varied methods of calculating roots of any quadratic equation was introduced and references were being seeked from the preliminary worksheet so as to associate the simpler concepts with that of mathematical technicalities which helped the Learners to gain sufficient understanding relevant to the topic.

We have begun our next Core Theme ‘Economic Development of India’ and have covered various key terms like GDP, GNP, National Income, Fiscal and Trade deficit, real income and money income, difference between growth and development, different forms of liberalization, privatization and meaning of globalization. Financial sector reforms was introduced in brief and we will be studying financial sector reforms, money markets, and meaning and importance of five year plans in detail in the coming cycle.
This week we discussed about higher order question based on Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â simultaneous equation (real IGCSE questions as word problem). Homework is given for extra practice. Next coming slot we have unit test for the same as reflection.

This week we finished with differentiation section Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â in calculus. We discussed every level of of sums from low level approach to high level approach including expo, log & trigo function. In the next coming slot we have revision unit test for Simultaneous equation & further next slot unit test for calculus. Stay tuned with revision topic & current topic parallel for preparation.
