Grade 11 Biology students studied the important elements of life using a data based question. They revised the formation of water using covalent bond and used this concept in understanding the formation of hydrogen bond. Students used atomic model set and cut outs to understand how hydrogen bond is formed. Later , they were asked to watch a TED video and find the reason for ice to float on water. Using their knowledge of hydrogen bond they were able to answer the questions posed to them related to properties of water (adhesion, cohesion, boiling point etc.).
