[Unit Of Inquiry]

Read aloud of the story- “Grandfather’s Journey” by Allen Say. After the read aloud learners had a discussion on the same. Following questions were asked to the learners.

Questions:- 1) What do you think grandfather did in this story? 2) What was the reason grandfather did so? 3) How did grandfather feel doing so?

Learners discussed on the above questions and came up with the word “migration”.

Language

Empowering English- Learners read the story “The monkey and the crocodile”. They also coloured the adjectives in the story.

Language Development- Learners revised the concept of grammar through the exercise given in the Language with ease reference book.

Math

Learners drew symmetrical objects making connections with the real life examples.

Note:- L.E.A.P session was conducted.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Today, we had an interesting learning engagement ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…â€œHot Potato ActivityÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â. Learners were paired up and they had to write an answer to the question written on the paper. There were 10 questions to be answered and the time given was 2 minutes. The purpose of doing this activity was get to know the prior knowledge about the upcoming unit. The learners were able to reflect that these questions talk about our health/ well being/ and also its about heart, mind, body and soul.

Language

Learners completed the remaining answers in their notebook of Ch-8 Nobody Knows.

Math

Learners created and solvedÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â  word problem on addition and subtraction for decimals using real life situation. The students had to pick up books from the library and add the prices of the books shopped by them and later subtract it from their desired pocket money. They solved this word problem in their Math note book.

UOI : Learners wrote few questions in their UOI notebook based on which they will interview their parents and grandparents. The questions and the purpose of the interview was discussed with them in the class.

This was a Tuning in activity for the new unit.

Language : Learners listened to an audio clip of Chapter 9 of CharlotteÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s Web and the chapter was discussed in the class.

Learners were given websites which they used to research on spiders using the Chromebook.

Homework

UOI : Answer the following questions written in your UOI notebook based on the interview of your parents and grandparents as discussed in the class:

3) How did you communicate when you were young?

Important Points:-

• Kindly send one postcard size family photograph with all family members and one passport size photograph of each family members. You are requested to send all the photographs by 23rd September, 2014(Tuesday)
• Kindly practice recognition,sound and association of the small letters a,b,c,d, e and f with your ward.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Kindly note we are focusing only on the small alphabets, so please do the same at home. Capital letters will be done later in the year.
• Practice recognition, association and forward counting of numbers [1-9] regularly with your child.
• Please send 2 lap size napkins regularly in the school bag and keep the lunch box and napkin in 1 small carry bag. (Kindly ignore if you are already sending it in this manner)
• Kindly sign in diary for note/circular. Also take out circular from the diary.Please mention about the things sent ( objects, library books) etc. in diary.(When you send to teacher)
• Try to do more of fine motor skills activities with your child at home, it will help them develop their writing skills.
• If your child is reflecting about his/her learning at home then please inform the respective HRT (home room teacher) through mail or communication diary. Please keep a track of your childÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s progress/learning.
