Highlights

UOI:

The result of the survey done by the students as homework was discussed i n the class by making a T-chart so as to compare between the 2 generations i.e. parents and grandparents, with regard to eating, traveling, communication, dressing and spare time. The students were able to visualize the difference between the life style of 2 generations. Later, the students were given a scope to think over which would be the next TDT that we are focusing for this current unit. The students had a detailed discussion upon the same and came up with the answer ‘Where we are in place and time’.

Language:

Learners were given an A3 sheet on which they had to prepare a graphic organizer with the help of a spider’s picture shown in the class.

Students were taken to the Library to carry on with their research work on ‘Spiders’ through books, and they were found completely engrossed while doing the same.

Homework

Language:

Complete the graphic organizer that was made in the class with the research work you have done. If the research work is yet left then please complete the same and filling of the graphic organizer. (To be submitted on 24/9/14)

Math: 

Illustrate the following fractions and mention whether it is a proper or an improper fraction: (To be done in your rough/reflection notebook)

2/5, 12/7, 6/5, 4/9

Note : Maximum amount to be brought to school for the  business fair to be held on 24th, 25th and 26th September is Rs. 100. Any extra money brought will not be allowed. (Surprise checks in class will take place)

New word: awful – bad

Settling Time: Learners drew their favorite cartoon character.

[Language]

Learners read the story “The monkey and the crocodile” from the reference book “Empowering English.”  Later on, they were asked to color the adjectives given in the story.

[Math]

Learners practiced the concept of “symmetry” through a worksheet. They also did self checking on the same.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

[Read Aloud]

Learners were read the book “Grandfather’s journey” written by Allen Say related to the unit. They were introduced the name of the unit “Migration” and they came up with the TDT “Where we are in place and time.” They also came to know about the different modes of transport used by the grandfather and the feeling by doing so. They came up with the facilities available in cities in comparison to the villages. Keep up the good work!

[Homework]

Learners need to show different modes of transportation in the given A3 size paper using the words – travelling, shifting, migration and journey.

Note : Tomorrow roll number 13 needs to make a story on the given words and bring a new vocabulary.

Language:

The students were introduced to paragraph writing through the burger model. They understood the importance of writing in a sequence as well as writing an interesting paragraph.They enhanced their oral and written communication skills too.

Learning intention: To help students enhance their writing skills.

Maths:

1)The students measured different objects in the class like LCD, table, using their hand span and wrote it down in their notebooks.

Learning intention: To help students measure using nonstandard units.
The students were tuned in to the beginning, middle and end of the story. The students illustrated the beginning and end of a story on the given worksheet.

Learning intention : To help students understand that a story has a beginning, middle and end.

2)The students estimated the quantity of the objects by guessing its approximate number. Eg : How many erasers are there in the box?

Learning intention : To help students estimate numbers up to hundred.

3) The students measured objects in the classroom using non standard units like hand span, foot span and wrote the same in their math notebooks.
Learning intention : To help students measure using nonstandard units.

Ordinal numbers dictation has been taken.

Homework:

Solve the given worksheet.
