Day 5

Highlights of the day :

MATHS – Students were shown videos related to Simplification of fractions, on Khan Academy and were asked questions related to the same, after which they were able to understand how to simplify fractions step by step for reducing them to their lowest terms. Students also practiced few sums in their Math notebooks.

LANGUAGE – A video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjEzg__6ztc) was shown to the students on the LCD. Students were asked to make notes about the important facts and events that took place in that person’s life simultaneously. After watching the video, the teacher explained what is a Biography along with taking a discussion about the video. Later, a paragraph (biography on Dhirubhai Amabani) was written by the students in their Lang writing notebooks, which was copied by them from the LCD where the teacher had typed the paragraph.

UOI:Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Learners did a story telling activity where student 1 was standing in a posture. Student 2 had to come and relate himself to the posture of student 1. Further, student 3 came forward and tapped the back of student 1 and took his place and made a posture. This continued further and all the students got their turn.

Learning Outcome: To enhance imagination.
Language:Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â  Learners chanted the poem- The owl and the pussycat by Edward Lear from EmpoweringÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â English. (pg100)

Math: Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Line Graph: Learners learned to co-ordinate the points on a line graph. X-axis had numbers ranging from 1 to 10 and Taxis had alphabets from A to J. Thus, they identified the following co-ordinates J5, H9, A2, G6, B4, C10, D7.

Learning Outcome: To enhance their data handling skills and presenting the same through a line graph.

Settling task:-Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Students solved ‘Spot the difference’ worksheet.

[Math] Line Graph: Students were introduced to ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“line graphÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Learners first learnt to co-ordinate the points on the grid on the graph paper and presented a line graph.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â The Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â X-axis had numbers ranging from 1 to 10 and Y-axis had alphabets from A to J. Thus, they identified the following co-ordinatesÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â J5, H9, A2, G6, B4, C10, D7. Then they presented a ‘Line graph’ for theÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â attendance record of students who remained absent from 25th Aug to 28th Aug.

Math -Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Teacher asked the students to collect the data of the total number of students of any four sections of G3 (Initiate, Illuminate, Imbue & Ideate) going to different subject / class in their AS slot and record the data in their graph books. Then she wrote the data on the board and asked students to present the data through a bar graph. Students drew the graph in their graphbook.

Interpret the questions based on graph and answer them in your graph notebooks.

## Recap of the day 30-09-2014

Language: Learners were shown a P.P.T. on Eric Carle. Discussion on the same was taken after that.

Math: Learners solved a worksheet where a few word problems were given to them related to a birthday party, this was catering to their comprehension skills. Learners also enjoyed making 3 D shapes with clay and toothpicks.

U.O.I.: Learners were read 2 case studies of students who migrated from one place to another. The two lines of inquiry: 1) Our personal migration history and 2) The reasons why people migrate were focused through it.
