Gr 11 – Math HL – Probability – Highlights of the week

Dear Parents,

We continued with the chapter Probability.

Last week we covered following subtopics :

1. Estimation using probability

2. Mutually exclusive events and addition law of probability

3.  Multiplication law of probability

4. Dependent and Independent events

5. Tree diagrams with and without replacement

6. Contingency table and its use , how to find probability of some events using this table.

7. Conditional Probability

We solved textbook exercises and extra sums based on the above mentioned subtopics. All the worksheets are shared with students on GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

Dear All,

Please note that the total approximate cost of IIMUN Indore will be Rs.10000 (Ten thousand only). All the expenses (including those related to travelling,boarding and lodging )of students have been taken into account while calculating this cost.Students who are willing to register for IIMUN Indore need to bring the cheque for this amount. The cheque(account payee only) should be  drawn in favour of “Fountainhead Education Trust”. Students need to hand over the cheque to respective grade HRTs.

Further please be informed that the actual expenses might be higher than the above mentioned amount. In such a scenario the difference will be deducted from the imprest amount.

G9 CS Term 1 Updated Syllabus

Dear Learners,

The updated syllabus for the Term – 1 CS Exam is as below :

Unit 1: Introduction to computer systems

  • Different types of computers and their applications
  • input devices: 2D and 3D scanners, barcode readers, Quick Response (QR) code readers, digital cameras, keyboards, mice, touch screens, interactive whiteboard,
    microphones
  • how it works,  typical applications, why it is used in these applications; its advantages and limitations.
  • real-life scenarios, for example: scanning of passports at airports, barcode
    readers at supermarket checkouts, and touch screens on mobile devices
  • range of sensors can be used to input data into a computer system, including
    light, temperature, magnetic field, gas, pressure, moisture, humidity, pH and motion
  • real-life scenarios, for example: street lights, security devices, pollution control, games, and household and industrial applications
  • output devices: inkjet, laser and 3D printers;  speakers and headphones; flat-panel display screens, including Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and Light-Emitting
    Diodes (LED) display; LCD projectors and Digital Light Projectors (DLP)
  • real-life scenarios, for example: printing single items on demand or in large volumes; use of small screens on mobile devices
  • how it works,  typical applications, why it is used in these applications; its advantages and limitations.
  • primary, secondary and off-line storage and provide examples of each,
    such as: primary: Read Only Memory (ROM), and Random Access Memory (RAM), secondary: hard disk drive (HDD) and Solid State Drive (SSD); off-
    line: Digital Versatile Disc (DVD), Compact Disc (CD), Blu-ray disc, USB flash memory and removable HDD
  • Calculate the storage requirement of a file

Unit 2: Numbers, processors and operating systems

  • Convert positive denary integers into binary and positive binary integers into denary
  • the concept of a byte and how the byte is used to measure memory size
  • Convert positive hexadecimal integers to and from denary
  • Convert positive hexadecimal integers to and from binary
  • Represent numbers stored in registers and main memory as hexadecimal
  • basic Von Neumann model for a computer system
  • the stages of the fetch- execute cycle, including the use of registers
  • Use binary in computer registers for a given application (such as in robotics, digital instruments and counting systems)

The operating system part has not yet been covered in class and hence excluded from term 1 syllabus.
