Note: We are going to celebrate Navratri festival in assembly tomorrow. Kindly send your child in traditional clothes (chaniya choli for girls, if not then a traditional dress and for boys Kediyu or kurta pajama), also send their uniforms with them.

Highlights 

Day 1

UOI : Learners shared the information they had brought, with the class and understood the difference between inventions and discoveries/ explorations.

They also did pair reading of books related to the unit.

Language : Learners prepared for the role play of the chapters given to them from Charlotte’s Web.

Math : Ordering and Comparing fractions – Learners learnt how to order fractions in ascending and descending order through visualization of illustration so as to compare and order them in correct sequence.

They started attempting a worksheet on comparing fractions.

Homework : 

Language : Choose a person/celebrity of your choice and make a mind-map( can be done in points also) about his/her life facts and events as and when it happened in sequence. This is to be done in the Language Writing book.

After the introduction of ‘ale’ family words (whale, sale, scale, tale, male, stale, pale, bale), learners were taken to the Language Literacy centres with following centres:

Centre 1- Association of words to pictures.(‘ale’ family)

Centre 2- Reading of ‘ale’ family laminated booklet.

Centre 3- Colouring Station (Colouring of ‘ale’ family booklet)

Centre 4- ‘ale’ word family slider. Writing the real words on laminated sheets from the slider.

Highlights

UOI : Unpacking of the Central Idea was done by the teacher after the above discussion. Teacher prompted the learners to derive the Central idea of the unit. The TDT was also highlighted by the learners.

Learners were given few questions which they answered on a A4 sheet. This learning engagement was done to derive the Key concepts of the current unit.

Language: Dictation was taken today in the class.

Learners wrote the biography of the person/celebrity, on whom they had researched at home, in their Language writing book.

Learners have started preparing for the given chapters in their groups.

Math:  Odering of Fractions (ascending and descending) which was given as previous homework was solved on the board. Also, learners practised many more sums of Ordering Fractions.

Homework

Maths: Complete the worksheet given in class.

Settling time:

Learners read the class library book

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Learners were read 1 case study of student who immigrated from one place to another. Through this they were introduced the new term “immigration”. They also revised the term “migrant” during this session.

[Language]

Learners discussed IB social skills and research skills.

Learners practiced Narrative Writing, where they were asked to write a short story with beginning, middle and end along with the illustration.

[Math]

Learners revised the concept of Odd and Even numbers through “Carroll Diagram”

[Homework]

Learners have to make the 3 D shape from the given Math worksheet (Demo for one of the shapes was shown in the class).

Settling Time: Learners completed the phrase – “If I get a chance to go in space….” using their imagination.

Learners presented on the “Personal history tree – questionnaire” which was given as a homework.

Learners have to make 3D shapes from the given worksheets. (Demo for one of the shapes was shown in the class) They can color but the same needs to be labelled.
