Recap of the day 13-10-2014

## Recap of the day 13-10-2014

Learners wrote the statement and drew illustrations for – “There were 3 bears”. (Beginning)

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Learners unpacked the Central Idea of the unit through different provocative questions-“Throughout history, people have migrated for a variety of reasons.”

[Language]

Learners did poem recitation of the poem: “I eat spaghetti with a spoon” by Kenn Nesbitt.

For soup I use a fork.
I drink my soda from a bottle
stopped up with a cork.

I have a pair of chopsticks
that I use for cutting cheese,
a spatula for salads,
and a knife for eating peas.

I drink my pizza from a cup,
eat ice cream with a stick,
and when I want a glass of milk
my strainer does the trick.

I slurp salami through a straw.
I don’t get too much in.
But that’s the way I always stay
so fabulously thin.

This poem recitation session was fun for kids. They learnt this poem to enhance their vocabulary.

[Math]

Learners solved 3 digit- 1 digit subtraction sum (with regrouping). They wrote the same with algorithm steps in their math notebook.

Example:- 111-8

Steps:- 1) Subtract the ones place (1-8).

2) Realize you cannot take 8 away from 1.

3) Regroup 1 ten to make 10 ones.

4) Subtract the ones place (11-8).

5) Record the ones place (3).

6) Bring down the number in the tens place (0).

7) Bring down the number in the hundreds place (1).

8) Read the completed problem: (111-8= 103).

[Circle Time]

Habit 2- Begin with the end in mind video.

Learners watched the above video. Later on, they were divided in groups through a grouping strategy and then they made a plan for their upcoming assessment. Here, they wrote the same in the form of Beginning, Middle-1, Middle-2 and End. (In this activity Language was integrated with U.O.I)

When I was little”-by Jamie Lee Curtis and illustrated by Laura Cornell.
