Settling time: Learners were asked to write the statement ‘They were frightened and they ran home’ (END) and draw illustration for it.

Learners were tuned into the new chapter ‘I wish I were a tree’ from Empowering English reference book. They discussed about the importance of tree and it’s different uses. They also made a mind up and were asked to write all the point

U.O.I:  Learners made a mind map and wrote biography of Neil Armstrong from the facts they had written in their U.O.I notebook.

Language: Best pieces were shared of Autobiography on the person that they had researched on as a homework.

Math: Learners practised sums of finding the lowest term in fractions, Multiplication and division of fractions in the form of quiz.

Day 4:

Dear parents,

Please note the following regarding last day Potluck party before the Diwali break:

Students can celebrate on the last day before Diwali vacation by bringing home-made food as per Friday food policy. However, this time, there is a twist: Students can only bring traditional Indian food on this day. So no pasta, pizza, garlic bread, noodles, potato smileys etc. Instead, they can bring Kachoris, Samosa, Vada, Medu Wada, Halwa, Chat, Laddoo, Sukhdi, etc. is fine. However, bread rolls, Pao bhaji, etc. are fine. This is an opportunity for students to know how Indian junk  food can also be tasty and cool!
Proverb of the day:– “Honesty is the best Policy.”
Settling Task:- Students completed their ‘Making connections’ worksheet.
Note: (1) Regarding X Box:- Students were informed about their roles / characters in the coming up X Box Event. They are given the scripts as per their performances. So, kindly take 2/3 photocopies of the same and keep them safely. Also prepare your child well for the same in the vacation as we will start X Box practice soon after the holidays.
(2) Diwali Homework:- Students are also given Vacation homework. Complete your homework and bring it without fail on the re-opening day (10/11/14).

[Language] Literary Event: The literary event “What’s the good word” was conducted today. The rounds were:Round 1: Describe the picture using two verbs and 1 adverb.Round 2: Choose the correct word.

Round 3: Make compound words from the given pictures.

Round 4: Choose the correct meaning of the proverb.

Round 5: Memory Game.

Learning Outcome: To enhance their writing skills.

Maths:

Peer teaching session was taken up in the class. Learners were given the topics for fractions and they prepared for the session which was worth appreciating.

Teacher later showed the following links to the learners in order to learn how to divide and multiply fractions.

Teacher  took up a class discussion upon the same and clarified the doubts.

Teacher  instructed the learners to recollect the 3 important steps for dividing and multiplying fractions and asked them to write in their Math notebooks.

They practiced few sums in the Maths note book.

Important note:

1. Diwali vacation H.W. given to the students which needs to be done in the journal/answer sheet handed over to them.

2. Pot luck Party : Students will be celebrating by having a ‘Fraction action party’ in which they need to share their food with their friends by saying what fraction of the whole food they are sharing. Eg: If I have bought 20 samosas in all and I’m sharing 2 of them with my friend I’ll say – “I’m giving you 2/20th of my samosas to you.

This time, there is a twist: students can only bring traditional Indian food on this day- so no pasta, pizza, garlic bread, noodles, potato smileys, etc. Kachoris, samosa, vada, medu wada, halwa, chaat, laddoo, sukhdi etc is fine. Ideally,  we encourage students to stick to non bread times. However, bread rolls, pao bhaji is fine. As even Indian junk  food can be tasty and cool to enjoy!

Dear All,

Ideally,  encourage students to stick to non bread times. However, bread rolls, pao bhaji is fine. 
 They can eat it in the classroom. The respective teacher and the students must take responsibility of ensuring that the classroom is cleaned after the meal
2. Students should be in school uniform only.
3. Please regulate the quantity of food. There is huge food wastage on this day.
