Gearing up for new learning’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear parents,

As a part of the learning engagement, the learners were given cut outs of a laminated sheet. With the piece they had to form groups by searching the other parts of the sheet form a whole picture and identify the image given in the sheet. This helped them to understand how to solve a puzzle with collaboration, develop their comprehension skill. They also came across with new words related to it like events, involve, collaboration, team work, decision and so on. Here are the glimpses of the same….

Settling Task: Learners had to visualize and draw a thing they like the most.

[Circle Time]

Learners revisited the 8 key concepts.

Learners played the game – “Chinese whisper.”

[Language]

Empowering English: Learners were asked “What would they want if they were a tree?” They came up with answers such as I would like the poor people to take fruits from me and sell the same so that they can earn money. Later on, they were read few paragraphs from chapter 3 – “I wish I were a tree.”

Language development: Learners revised the concept of action words through word search.

[Math]

Learners did the worksheet – “Math about me.”

[Read Aloud]

Read the book “I love winter” written by Subhadra Sen Gupta.

Note: Tomorrow roll number 2 needs to get a new vocabulary.

Settling Task:-

Learners went to the “Poetry Corner” in the class and did poem recitation of the poems learnt so far.

[Language]

Empowering English:- Read chapter 3 “I wish I were a tree” by Sushama Jain. Learners did Choral reading. During the read aloud after each and every paragraph learners were asked the gist of the same. This was written on the board in the form of a graphic organizer (Tree). They were also introduced Homographs after the read aloud.

Homographs:- Each of the two or more words spelled the same but not necessarily pronounced the same and having different meanings.

Example:- Fair- treating people equally

Fair- (complexion) light; blonde.

[Read Aloud]

“This is a hospital, not a zoo” by Roberta Karim. After the read aloud learners wrote on the given situation “If you get such a ‘cracker’, which animal you would like to change to and what will you do?”. (The situation was a part of the story. Cracker is the eatable in the story which is eaten by one of the character in the story and he changes into different animals like rhino, bear, orangutan, etc.)

[Homework]

Learners have to do the graphic organizer after reading the given class library book.

Note:- Learners needs to submit the given class library book tomorrow along with the H.W.

Settling Task:

Learners wrote 3 points describing any 1 attribute of the Learner profile.

Roll no. 1 read a book named ‘ The New Teacher’ written by Jane Carruth.

Learners were divided in groups of two and they shared their Diwali vacation experience in English.

[Math]

Learners revised the concept of ascending/ descending/ preceding/ succeeding/ addition sums (with and without regrouping) and word problems. They were assigned the above topics task- wise. The learners were divided in groups using one of the grouping strategies. They moved from one Task to another tasks in groups and attempted the questions on the given A-3 size sheet.

Single Subjects: Library, Hindi and PS.

[Homework]

Learners have to draw a picture using 3D shapes.

Note: Roll no. 2 needs to be prepared for tomorrow’s read aloud.

Language:

Learners revised the second chapter by summarizing it orally. They started with the third chapter through the audio book of the chapter shared with them. They read the texts from the book while listening to the audio.

Math:

Learners practiced with  the increase in price by certain percentage  through a worksheet given to them. They used the pictures of the products/items they had collected earlier to complete the task.

Learners watched the video related to civilization. They took down  the notes in their UOI notebook. Learners were asked to address two questions “How the civilization came to an existence? Why do you call a particular era a civilization ?”
