Central Idea: We can express feelings and communicate meaning through different stories”

Performance by ARTS TEAM on the story of ‘FISH FRIENDS THREE’ in the XBOX

 

UOI 2:  “Who We Are”

Central Idea: Family and friends play a role in our lives

Introduction of mind map through family members such as father, mother, friend and family etc  [integrated with math concept] This activity helped to understand the roles and responsibilities of the family and friends.

 

Learners presented the roles and responsibilities chart/scrapbook in front of the whole class.

GP2:

The teacher made children sit in a circle and then they were be given different situations where they used their thinking skills and acted according to the situation given to them. Here the teacher role modelled alongside the child to give a better understanding.

VA:

Learners were shown the story ‘The Lazy Boy’  through youtube. After watching the story they made a paper mask by coloring and decorated it. Then they stuck letter ‘m’ pictures on it.(Integrated with Language)

Important Points:

  • We will be sending the workbooks (language\math) on every week for homework. Kindly help your child to complete the given homework and send the workbook back on immediate next day without fail(if book is send on Monday then send the book back on next day ie Tuesday and if the book is send on Friday then send the book on Monday)
  • We will not be sending any reminders, please be regular in sending the book back to school, otherwise your child will miss out on class work.
  • Kindly note the homework: language Workbook pg:- 84 & 86  Math workbook: pg no. 1, 2, 11 & 12.
  • Kindly practice recognition,sound and association of the small letters a-j with your ward. Kindly note we are focusing only on the small alphabets, so please do the same at home. Capital letters will be done later in the year.
  • Practice recognition, association and forward counting of numbers [1-13] regularly with your child.
  • Please send 2 lap size napkins regularly in the school bag and keep the lunch box and napkin in 1 small carry bag. (Kindly ignore if you are already sending it in this manner)
  • Kindly sign in diary for note/circular. Also take out circular from the diary.Please mention about the things sent ( objects, library books) etc. in diary.(When you send to teacher)
  • Try to do more of fine motor skills activities with your child at home, it will help them develop their writing skills.
  • If your child is reflecting about his/her learning at home then please inform the respective HRT (home room teacher) through mail or communication diary. Please keep a track of your child’s progress/learning.

After today’s ‘Robotics Seminar’, Now you must be quite clear about what will be there in ‘Robotics Workshop’

NOTE: We have rescheduled the workshop to 13th-14th Dec 2014. [So, Students will not be disturbed during interhouse]

Major Points regarding workshop:

  • It will be in our school only [13th-14th Dec 2014, Saturday-Sunday]
  • Time: 8am to 3pm (Both days)
  • Fees [Including Takeaway Kit]:
    • For Grade 5-6 (Wired Grabot) –> Rs. 1750
    • For Grade 7 to 11 (Wireless Robot) –> Rs. 2250
  • You need to submit cheque of relevant amount at Science Lab (Second Floor) to Amisha-ben (Lab Assistant)
    • Do write your Name, Grade, Section – on backside of the cheque
    • Cheque should be in favor of: Fountainhead Education Trust
    • You need to Submit Cheque by 29th Nov 2014

1st Robotics Workshop [13-14 Dec 2014] By IIT Techfest and Robokidz

 

Scholastic, Techfest IIT-Bombay – Introduction & Format:

Scholastic, a unique initiative by Robokidz India LLP, in association with Techfest, IIT Bombay. This event is designed dedicatedly for the school students with keen interest in the field of robotics. This event will be organized in 3 stages; the first two stages of the event will be organized at the various Zonal Centers. 1st round would be comprised of a 2 day workshop on Wireless Robotics Technology in which knowledge and rudimentary concepts on WR Technology will be provided to the participating students. The 2nd round commences after the completion of the workshop i.e. a competition would be executed among the students who have participated in the workshop. The 3rd and the final round of this event will organized at IIT Bombay during Techfest-2015 which will be from 3rd where winners of each zonal center would be invited to come and participate for the final showdown at IIT-Bombay.

 

Scholastic, Techfest IIT-Bombay – Objectives and Key Benefit:

Techfest is aimed at promoting hands on student learning in various disciplines year after year. Techfest has always aimed at spreading science and technology to a progressively more number of students over the years, Robokidz India LLP. &Techfest IIT-Bombay workshop has been able to achieve this successfully with engineering students. This year at Scholastic, Techfest IIT-Bombay workshops we wish to do the same with much younger and smarter school students.

 

Aim:

  • Increase quality participation.
  • Extend the Techfest platform by fostering interest in robotics to students who usually cannot gain premium exposure at such a young age.
  • Provide teams of students, a step by step approach towards mastering the nuances of robotics technology and also values like team work in a phase of competition.
  • Give Indian students of every region, an opportunity on the same footing so as to make sure learning and knowledge is same for all.

Dear students,

A field trip has been organized for you all on the topic “Enzymes” on Monday 24/11/2014 to Sachin, GIDC. You need to bring two lunch boxes with you and wear complete uniform (trousers and shoes and socks). You need to carry your water bottle, book and a pen and one lunch box. It will take nearly 3 to 4 hours. You all need to assemble in the Assembly area after your first break (10.20 am).

Wonderful day !

UNIT OF INQUIRY:

Classroom discussion: Learners shared their prior knowledge about the solar system, planets, universe, day and night.

Language:

Learners were divided into flower groups (grouping strategy). They were given chits to sort out the contractions and paste it on the paper given. They really enjoyed doing it. They were asked to differentiate each pair of contraction (don’t – do not) using different colours. They coloured each pair with different patterns.

Social skills were discussed. It has 6 sub skills: Accepting responsibility, respecting others, cooperating, resolving conflict, group decision, making and adopting a variety of roles.

Math:

Learners practised splitting method in their notebook. More practised will be given in the class.

Homework:   1)  Math worksheet on word problems is given. 2) Read aloud a book to your parent.
