Grade 4 PE Class

Grade 4 students experience Identity unit. Where they showed their prior knowledge and were given chance to try different athletic events to identify their strengths. In the video posted below some of them try High-jump to identify their strength and they are practicing some drills, technique and skills for the event.

Playing with Word Families!

The learners did revision of the ‘alk’, ‘ast’, ‘ack’ word families  through a game. They had to cross the tunnel while the music is on, as soon as the music stops, the one inside the tunnel has to sort the flashcards according to their families. Settling task:

  • Learners wrote 5 adjectives which describes them.

[Language]

  • Learners were introduced 10 new spellings of the week- over, sentence, little, went, answer, study, Earth, planets, wish, shade. They were explained the meaning of the same. Later on, they wrote the words three times in their writing notebook.

L.E.A.P  

  •  Learners attended L.E.A.P. session today.

[Math]

  • Learners practiced the addition concept done till now using different manipulative like “ganitmala”, “place value cards” and “tally marks”. They did the same in groups of 4.

[Read Aloud]

  • Roll no. 8 read the book ‘Clifford’s Valentine’ written by Norman Bridwell.
  • Read ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’.

[Homework]

Empowering English: Learners have to punctuate the sentences and write it down in their Language and writing books.

Single subjects: Music

Note: Roll no. 9 will do a read aloud tomorrow.

Reading is fun while playing !!!

Reading is fun while playing !!!

The learners did revision of the ‘ale’, ‘ank’, ‘ake’ word families  through a game. They had to cross the tunnel and then read and  sort the flashcards according to their families.

All the students really enjoyed this game. They showed enthusiasm and co-operation while playing in groups. This activity also helped in enhancing their gross motor skills (while crossing the tunnel), observation skills (as they had to see and sort the flash cards) and reading skills.

Settling Task: Learners wrote any 2 properties of triangular prism.

[Math]

Learners practiced splitting method in their notebook. More practice will be given in the class. They also  learnt  Compensation strategy of addition. They solved several examples orally using this strategy.

NOTE: This is a mental math strategy which will help them to do the calculations faster.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Reflection on Earth was taken through a graphic organizer on “What Earth is … Earth has… and Earth can…. “.  Learners also drew solar system on an A4 size sheet according to their understanding.

Language Development:Learners revised the grammar concepts from their LWE reference book.

Learners have to punctuate the sentences given on page 29 of Empowering English reference book in their E.E notebook.

Fill the bucket game- Play Based learning.

Fill the bucket game- Play Based learning.

Teacher had placed 4 buckets opposite each other. one bucket  filled with water and children had to dip the sponge in the water and take it to another bucket where they had to squeeze  the water from the sponge and fill the bucket. 

They enjoyed playing this water game.
This activity helped them in enhancing their Fine motor and Gross motor skills.
