Pleasant day !

New phrases: own up – admitting mistake, ebb away – disappear

UNIT OF INQUIRY: Learners were read aloud a book – ‘There is no place like space’ which gave them knowledge about few facts of all the planets. Through this read aloud they got to know about universe, all the planets, moon, star, sun, constellations, telescope and satellite.

LANGUAGE: Learners revised contractions through a worksheet. They also tried to frame sentences using contractions.

MATH: Learners practised splitting method in the notebook.

Single subject: Hindi and drama

Homework: Language worksheet given and explained.

Grade 5 – Alliance: Highlights and homework of the day

Language:

Learners enthusiastically presented their favourite dialogue from the reader.

Later, they continued reading chapter 7.

Math:

Learners revised the concept of fractions, decimals and percentages through the mental math activity done in the class.

Reflection on the Learner Profile and Attitudes:

Learners were given opportunity  to reflect on the attributes of Learner Profile and the Attitudes they demonstrate while working with others. They wrote their reflection on a sticky note with the reason and pasted it on the appreciation chart.

Settling Task:  Learners found the word “Solar” in their dictionary and wrote the meaning of the same in their settling task book.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Learners came up with the basic facts about the planets they read from the book “There’s no other place like space.” The same was written in the A4 colour paper to be displayed on the board for their frequent reference.

[Language]

  • Learners  were introduced the kinds of sentences that is statement, questions, exclamation and command.
  • For example:
  • I feel wonderful today. – Statement
  • Do you feel wonderful today? – Question
  • Good heavens! It’s late! – Exclamation
  • Stop making that noise in the class. – Command.
  • They were asked to frame one example for each type of sentence and they wrote it in their Empowering English reference book.

Language Development : Learners revised different grammar concepts through the exercise given in Language with ease reference book.

[Math]

Learners revised Carroll diagram through a worksheet. They also played a “Make and Match” game in groups of four to enhance their mental math computation skill.

Read Aloud :  ‘Huggly Gets Dressed’ written by Tedd Arnold.

Settling Task:

Learners found the word “Solar” in their dictionary and wrote the meaning of the same in their settling task book.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Learners reflected on the learning engagements done so far in this unit. They also uncovered the TDT- “How the world works” through this discussion.

Learners were read the book “There’s no place like space” written by Trish Rabe for the unit “How the world works.” The book talked about the basic features of the planets and the other things present in the space. This was done as a finding out stage.

Language Development:Learners revised the grammar concepts from their LWE reference book.

Central Idea : Many products go through the process of change before they are consumed or used.

  • Field trip: Students visited KG farm to know about the origin of different products. After the field trip, the students had a class discussion.

Learning outcome : To understand the origin of products.

Language:

  • Read aloud of the book – The cat in the hat  By Dr Seuss (Reader)

Activity 1: Revision of parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, articles, prepositions)  was done. Discussion on speech marks  (“) and exclamation marks (!).

  • AIE: Students continued with their AIE episodes.

Learning outcome: To enhance their listening and  reading skills.

Math:

Addition:

  • Students framed picture sentence problems.
  • Students  enhanced their thinking skills by using different strategies for adding. (number line, ganit mala)
  • The students solved a worksheet  (number line addition)

Learning outcome : To help students understand addition.
