G11_French_Unit test

Dear parents,

We completed the unit on Daily Routine in the last class and as a part of the unit test, the students have to shoot a video of anyone’s daily routine and present it on Monday, 1 December, 2014. This would account for the describing a visual stimulus.

The reading and writing unit test is scheduled on 4 December 2014.

In addition, they have to turn in a written assignment (submission) on Google Classroom by 14 December midnight.

[Highlight Of The Week]

Students studied the structure of DNA using an instruction sheet given to them. They had to read the worksheet ,answer the questions and draw accordingly.Later the worksheet was discussed and students were given A4 sheet to cut the component structures and paste it. As a result they made a whole structure of DNA and all the properties of DNA were answered  by the students itself after making the cut and paste model of DNA. Later, they studied different modes of replication of DNA and the experiment which proved one of the model correct. Later as a part of revising the topic, students used two different coloured wool and using it they made a 2D model on the chart paper. The learning of replication of DNA in a cell helped them to understand the same process in vitro (in lab). Thus, they were introduced to the technique of PCR where the DNA can be multiplied many times and has many applications in the field of research and forensic science.

Thought of the day: “An education isn’t how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It’s being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don’t.” by Anatole France

Highlights:
This week students solved sums on ‘Set theory’ from their text book. A new concept of Venn diagram was introduced. Students used three of their Maths slots for X Box preparation. So, this unit is now expected to get over by next week.

Dear Parents,

This week we followed the plan discussed in PTC .

Language:

The children were given an IGCSE based worksheet in which they had to read a passage and write a letter keeping in mind the guiding points. Vocabulary and Grammar rules like the use of It’s and Its and use of apostrophe were taught through the Cambridge workbook.

Literature:

We proceeded with Merchant of Venice Act 3. Classroom discussions include characterization, development of understanding beyond surface meaning of the text, Literary appreciation of the text and the use of song in theater.

We have also started focusing on Paper 04 (unseen prose and poetry). The students were taught the difference between Tone and Mood through a worksheet.

Book Club:

The children presented the books they read through a PPT and recommended their books to their classmates. Post book presentations, the children were asked to read an article from a Journal and later we discussed their reading. This ensured that the children get an exposure to various writings and words, additionally a short article triggers interest of all students alike.

looking forward to the next week !

Vagisha

Thought of the day:An education isn’t how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It’s being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don’t.” by Anatole France

Highlights:

This week, students explored more about different types of angles and its properties. They learnt about different types of angles formed between two parallel lines cut by a transversal. Students were asked to reflect on their learning in a creative way. Regular homework was given throughout the week from checkpoint 1 and 2. Each and every homework was discussed in the class. Unit test was also conducted on the last working day of the week.
