TDT :How we organize ourselves     

Central Idea :Many products go through the process of change before they are consumed or used.

 

  • Students reflected their understanding of the unit through the reflection sheet by answering various questions such as: 2 new facts that i learned, Something I will never forget,  I exhibited the attitude… when……  etc.

Learning outcome:  To help students reflect on their learning.

2) Shared model procedural writing: The teacher modeled procedural writing ofbuttermilk and the students wrote the same in their reflection journal.

Learning outcome :To help students understand the steps of procedural writing.

3) Individual writing: The students write the process of making popcorn in their reflection journal.

Learning outcome :To help students understand the steps of procedural writing.

  • Read aloud of the book – The cat in the hat  By Dr Seuss (Reader)

Activity : Revision of parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, articles, prepositions)  was done. Discussion on speech marks  (“) and exclamation marks (!).

Learning outcome: To  help students identify the different parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, articles, prepositions)

  1. Students watched the movie: ‘The cat and in the hat’ and compared the book with the video using a venn diagram. (integration with math- data handling)

Winter vacation homework:

A) In your UOI notebook:

1)Write the procedure of making a sandwich/burger.
2)Now reflect, is the sandwich/burger perishable or non-perishable? Why? (Discuss it with your parents)

B) Process of salt: Students need to visit a salt pan or watch a video and understand the process of making salt. Their assessment task is based on it. Please help them with this task, so that they are able to reflect well in their assessment.

c) Solve the given worksheets of maths and language.

  • Revision of opposites was done after which the learners made their own opposites booklet.

Math-

  • Introduction of number names from 41 to 50.
  • Forward Counting from 81 to 100
  • Pictograph:- The learners made their individual pictograph , on the basis of the favourite event(out of the ones celebrated in school) of their peers.

How we organise ourselves.

As a part of their Summative Assessment task learners organised another event ,  ”Picnic” , in a farm house.

They also celebrated their learning , through Christmas Celebrations , wherein they hosted a party for their parents.

Important note:

We have parent assembly on 6th January, 2015. The topics for the assembly are: Habit 5: Seek first to understand than to be understood, Reflective & Risk taker. You can take any 2 topics and present it in the form of dance, drama, song or mime. Interested parents kindly give their names to your child’s HRT. The participants will have to coordinate within themselves and practice for the performance. Inform the HRTs for the resources needed from school, well in advance.

Hope to see a great number of parents this time as this is the “first” performance of the new year by the parents.

Its time for celebrations…….

To celebrate the learnings of the unit of inquiry about planning and organizing events, today Sr.KG celebrated Christmas Party with the parents. All the kids as well as the parents were very much excited to be a part of this event. We all had fun playing games, dancing and eating yummy food prepared by the wonderful mothers!!
We appreciate those parents who were a part of their child’s celebration today. We wish you all merry Christmas and a joyous new year. May the coming year brings loads of happiness and bliss to your family!!

Great day !!

UNIT OF INQUIRY: HOW THE WORLD WORKS

Learners presented their summative assessment and their peer assessed them.

LANGUAGE:

1) Learners were given few words and were asked to write story using those words. They enhanced their writing skills.

2) Learners attended a worksheet to  practise tenses.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: Learners wiggled on the wiggles covered up till now. They showed enthusiasm and enjoyed the session.

Homework: Math: crossword worksheet, Language:  worksheet on adjectives and Magic finger booklet : Colour the cover page and complete page no. 1
