Highlights of the week:1st to 5th December.

 

Circle Time :

 

Revision of the rhymes till date.

UOI 3: Transport.

 

Central idea: Transportation can connect communities near and far.

Activities done this week:

Revision of Water route  Transport:

Through flashcards and videos, teacher introduced water route vehicles like boat, ship, cruise ship, submarine and gave a brief explanation about the uses of water transport. Learners watched videos and revised about water transport and reflected on the same during discussion time.

 

Revision of Air Route Transport:

Through flashcards and videos, teacher revised the air route vehicles like Aeroplane, Helicopter, Rocket, Parachute and gave a brief explanation about the uses of air transport. Learners watched videos and revised the knowledge about air transport and reflected on the same during discussion time.

 

Revision of land route :

Through flashcards and videos, teacher revised the land route vehicles like truck, motorcycle, train, ambulance, fire engine, etc and gave a brief explanation about the uses of land transport. Learners watched videos and revised the knowledge about land transport and reflected on the same during discussion time.

They revised the safety rules of Bus, car and petrol pump.

 

Integration of UOI with Language:

Visual skills: Learners were asked to observe flash cards of different vehicles.

Speaking skills :Learners were asked to share their views during discussion time.

Listening skills: Learners were shown different videos related to transportation.

 

Unit:3 How we express ourselves

Central idea: We play to explore and have fun.

Activities done this week:

Learners were introduced with different indoor and outdoor activities. After that teacher explained them the difference between Indoor and outdoor activities.

 

Language:

Movie day:

Learners were taken for the movie Smurf 2.

They watched the movie and enjoyed it.

This activity helped in enhancing their listening and visual skills.

 

Learners were revised with different action words through flash card:

Stand up, Sit down, Clap your hands, Tap your knee.

This activity helped in enhancing their vocabulary, listening  and visual skills.

 

Listening & Visual skills

Learners were asked to see various action videos and do the actions accordingly.

This activity helped in enhancing their viewing, listening and gross motor skills and helped in developing their vocabulary.

Word of the week: Telescope, machine

 

MATH:

 

Learners were introduced with Quantification of number 8.

Teacher asked each child to collect 7 objects like jodo blocks, rangometry, blocks etc from the basket.

This activity helped in enhancing their thinking skills.

 

Revision of Quantification and Patterns through manipulatives.

 

Play based activities of the week:

Bubble wrap painting:

 

Teacher had covered rolling pin with Bubble wrap polythene and the learners were

asked to dip the rolling pin in the colour  and then roll it on the plain sheet

of paper.

This activity helped them in enhancing their fine motor skills.

 

Balloon painting:

Learners were given Balloon and a plain sheet of paper and were asked to dip the balloon in the colour and paint on it they  enjoyed the bouncing the balloons across the paper.

They enjoyed doing this activity this activity also helped them in enhancing their fine motor skills.

 

Messy activity:

Learners were given bowl where teachers had kept corn flour. They were asked to add soapy water in it and mix it. LAter teacher add wheat flour in the mixer and throughout the activity learners were asked to feel and share the different texture like smooth, sticky. This activity helped in enhancing their fine motor skills and thinking skills.

 

Free play:

Learners were given different toys like: Wooden blocks, Soft toys, Kitchen set, Rangometris, Jodo blocks and were asked to play with it.

They enjoyed playing with the toys and mingled up with their friends.

This activity helped in enhancing their Social skills.

Important note:

 

  • Kindly note that children has to come in colouring clothes for night out.
  • Kindly check the blog bus route’s link has been posted for night out.
  • Kindly label their names and send the belongings.
  • If any concerns regarding to night out  kindly contact us through email.
  • We would like to appreciate the parents who have shared their child’s reflection through communication diary and mail. Hope to receive more reflections.
  • Kindly converse with your child in English and  encourage them to converse in English.
  • If your child is reflecting at home, then please inform the respective HRT (home room teacher) through the blog or communication diary.
  • Kindly send napkins and an extra pair of clothes everyday in their bag.

English Highlights of the week_Grade 9_Serendipity_Eureka_Fortuity

Dear Parents,

This week we focused on striking a balance of writing and understanding writer’s effect.

Literature:

We continued with Merchant of Venice and are now moving towards the “Courtroom Scene”. The children read and watched selected scenes from the movie.  We had an extensive discussion on the reasons of Bassanio’s choice of casket.

The children have been given the weekly homework of one  marks question from Merchant of Venice which they have to submit on Monday.

Language:

They were introduced to the Prose component through an excerpt from Roald Dahl’s short story “Hitch Hiker”. The children read the story and on activity sheets drew out the characteristics and related evidences of the characters of the story. This analysis contributes greatly to the understanding of writer’s effect.

Bookclub: 

This week the children showed an improvement in their reading. From the next Bookclub sessions, the children will nominate  3 friends who they think will read the book that they have read. Every successful nomination will earn them a point and this will also help in developing a fondness for books.

We also encourage and request the parents to be a part of this reading engagement at home.

Grade 7 Vision: Maths highlights of the week

Highlights:

A new unit ‘Measure and motion’ was introduced this week through class discussion and PPT. The previously learnt concept of unit conversion was revised. Few tasks were assigned to them where they were asked to estimate the distance between near by places and area of frequently used places. They were also asked to make presentation on real life application of measurement. 4.1 A and 4.1 B from checkpoint 2 book was done by the students which was later discussed in the class.

Unit test paper was discussed in the class and unit test paper has been handed over to the students.

G7 – Idea – English Highlights and Homework

Students had lively and in depth discussions from the reader ‘Bridge to Terabitha’. Students unraveled the relationship of Jess with the other character and how Leslie has become an important character that has a great influence on Jess.

Students also had their oral speech assessment. Students excelled in their learning  as to what it takes for one to become a public speaker.

They also did unit-10 from the workbook as per their interest.
