Highlights:

UOI – Learners were asked to write whatever comes to their mind in relation to energy, using Frayer’s model in their UOI  notebooks.  Later, a short discussion  was taken by the teacher on the same. The discussion also included the identification of TDT related to the unit. Students wrote a short reflection and a burning question on chits of papers given to them at the end of the session.

Homework :

UOI – Watch the following videos as flipped classroom and answer the questions given below in your UOI notebooks;

Questions :

Dear All

This is re-emphasize what we have discussed in the class today. Kindly submit your posters and chart paper to me in the morning. Also, do not forget to bring all the materials needed for your Rube Goldberg project as tomorrow is the final setting up and rehearsals of oral presentation. For video recording, do learn your script ensuring to include all the scientific terms and criteria mentioned in the SA.

The exhibition is on 22nd Dec. Monday slot 1 and 2, therefore, considering the time factor, you are required to remain focus and show sincerity towards your own assignment.

Dear Parents,

You are cordially invited to the Inaugural Ceremony of the first edition of SAARC simulation on 19/12/14 from 09:30am to 11:30am. This event is being conducted and led by the students of Grade 8. Parents have to use their own transport to reach to the venues and car pooling is recommended. Parking will be available on first-come-first serve basis. Parking will be available at KG Farm for those that do not find parking space at school.

Settling Time: Learners read a book from the class library.

Learners revisited the “Essential agreements” of the class.

Language

Reader: Learners were read 3 pages further from the reader “The magic finger” written by Roald Dahl. They were also explained the meaning of the phrase which they come across while reading the story.

Oral: Learners practiced the greetings and the responses for the same with their table partners.

Greeting : Hi,/ hello /Good morning / good afternoon, good evening.
How are you? / How are you doing? / How do you do?

Responding to greeting : Hi / hello / I’m fine thank you (thanks)/Okay! Thank you (thanks)/Can’t complain/Not bad. How about you?/And you?

They also played a memory chain game where the sentence was started as “I went to the market and bought an apple.” The other person had to come up with the same sentence adding up an item along with it. “I went to the market and bought an apple and a chart paper.”

Language Development: Learners practiced the concepts of grammar from the reference book.

Math

Practiced subtraction sums for 3-digit – 3-digit regrouping in their math notebook.

Learners were divided in groups of 4 using a grouping strategy. Each group was given a board game and a set of number cards. They had to pick up the number card one by one and the player with the greatest number gets the chance to move a step ahead. The most important rule for the game was that they need to be a silent player and can talk only through their actions. This made them concentrate more and play effectively.

This was played in order to revise the concept of greater number and smaller number for 3 – digits and 4 – digits.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Learners watched a movie “The magic school bus gets lost in the space” for the unit “How the world works.” Later on, an inquiry was taken related to the same.

Read a chapter from the book “The thief’s daughter” written by Alan Marks.

Homework

Learners need to complete the math worksheet given. The similar was already solved in the class and so it is self explanatory.

Note: Tomorrow, dictation will be taken. Kindly, prepare the learners for the same.

Grade 4 PE Class

Few Grade 4 students practiced High-jump over a period of 4 weeks, where student understood Techniques, Drills& Skills of different jumping style to improve their performance. In the first video some of them try High-jump using different jumping styles. Second video demonstrates different types of jumping style explained by Josh Lodge. Both videos are posted below. After seeing the video student need to analyse their performance by comparing their performance with second video.

Fun Fair

Fun Fair

As a part of the culmination activity of the current unit, few learners of each section of Sr.kg organized an event, ‘’FUN FAIR’’. This event was organized using the research tool ‘SUPER 3’- Plan, Do and Review. The learners did the planning and then reviewed they own event. They had put up various stalls like food stalls, stationery stalls, accessories stalls, games stalls etc. They displayed attitude confidence, enthusiasm and Learner Profile, ‘responsibility’ while handling the event.

Language -  Learners gave their summative assessment for the concepts learnt by them till now .
They parsed a sentence ,did listening activity,Poem recitation,dictation,Reading as well as descriptive writing.
Math -They also visited the  imaginary “Fun Funny Mall” where they had to apply their understanding of multiplication by spending  Rs 5000/-  to party with their friends ,they had to decide about the movie and the eatables ,as well as mention the amount left with them.
Learning Outcome -  To enhance their multiplication skills.
