Dear Parents,

This week we finished with the first poem f Thomas Hardy “The convergence of Twain”.  The poem was based on the sinking of “Titanic”, the children understood various poetic devices like Alliteration / Symbolism / Assonance / Caesura / enjambment.  They will be assigned worksheet in the coming week followed by Grammar exercises.

Most of the children have crossed the half-way mark of reading 10 books in the year. However, there are some students who are still struggling.  The parents have also been communicated about the consequences.

Dear Parents,

This week we completed waves and oscillation and started with numericals of the same.Learners also gave test of theory of waves and oscillations which led them to understand difference between Simple harmonic motion, periodic and oscillation properly. We also discussed some more examples too.

[Highlight Of The Week]

This week, students practised sums on ‘Probability’  and a new topic, ‘Logic’ has been introduced to the students by taking prior knowledge assessment and through PPT and class discussion. The following concepts were introduced to the students-

  • Statements and connectives
  • Compound statements and symbols
  • Truth table of negation, conjunction, inclusive and exclusive disjunction.

Students have solved sums pertaining to the above mentioned topics.

Grade 11 Biology highlights

Grade 11 Biology highlights

Grade 11 Biology students studied the importance of phosphorylation in a metabolic pathway. They studied that when food enters the human body it is converted to glucose through digestion. This glucose is absorbed by the cell and then breakdown of glucose takes place in a process known as glycolysis. This process of glycolysis takes place in the cytoplasm of the cell. If oxygen is present in the cell then the breakdown product of glucose i.e. pyruvate enters the mitochondria through a link reaction. In mitochondrial membrane, the electron and hydrogen carriers transfer electrons and hydrogen ion in a way that a proton motive force is created which is accepted by oxygen in the mitochondria to form water. The donation of electron is done by NADH which is obtained by TCA cycle in the mitochondria. Thus the whole equation of aerobic respiration was made clear using these metabolic pathways. They also did an activity to understand the role of carriers in the mitochondrial membrane.

Grade 7 Vision: Highlights of the week

Grade 7 Vision: Highlights of the week

[Highlight Of The Week]

Last week, the concept of ‘Area , Perimeter and Volume of Cube and cuboid’ was already done. This week, time was spent on clarifying student’s doubts and solving sums from checkpoint book. Revision was also done in the class to prepare students for the upcoming unit test. The concept of conversion of volume to capacity was also taught using manipulative.

A new concept, ‘Circle’ has been introduced this week where through videos, charts and class discussion different parts of the circle was shown to the student. Later, they were asked to reflect on the same. Different cylindrical shapes were given to the students and they were asked to measure the length of the diameter and length of the circumference so that they can find the pattern in their collected result and also find a rule linking the length of the circumference to the length of the diameter.

These are the glimpses of the activity done in class….
