‘Glimpse of first few days in School!!’

Dear Parents,

A very  warm welcome to all the parents for the new academic session 2015-16. Lets start this year  with heart filled joy and excitement. Looking forward to have a wonderful year ahead for all of us.

Here are glimpse of first few days of Sr. KG Sparkle. Learners are quite settled and have started off with various activities  like Colouring, Visual arts, circle time, read aloud. We also revised  numbers ( 1 to 20) by playing  the game -treasure hunt and letters a to z through flashcards and alphabet flex. Here I’m sharing some pictures of the same.

Dear Parents,

This week we started with a tuning-in activity for the unit they will be doing in detail in the upcoming week. We had a discussion on decision making strategies. The students were given few questions like – Have you ever made a choice that resulted in a consequence that you did not want?  How do we decide whether we should do something or not?  If we want to improve our consequences, how do we improve on our decision-making strategies?  Students came up with good answers according to their understanding.

The students were then given a scenario and they had to interpret the same using a Decision – Making Wheel.  The scenario was – Suppose you are sitting in an examination hall and you do not know an answer. Will you copy from your friend next to you or you will refrain from copying? Discussions were held in the class later on.

After completing these activities the students were introduced to the poem – The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. They displayed their understanding on a chart paper.  Next week, we will analyse and interpret the poem in detail.

Regards,

Nikita Jhaveri , Hasina Saifee and Eva Donald.

Grade 9_Week 1_ Language class updates

Grade 9_Week 1_ Language class updates

Dear Parents,

Here is a brief update on the first week’s teaching activities specific to the Language class:

1. We initiated our first week of this academic year by playing few fun filled ice- breaking activities that helped us energize and know each other better.

2. The subject was introduced in a very engaging manner by screening 2 videos (both in an unknown language; one with subtitles and another without subtitles). The objective was to explore the following:
  • What is language? (verbal and non verbal)
  • Why is language important?
  • Do we understand the world around us only through our known language? Or is it possible to interpret and understand things through other mediums like emotions, expressions, body language, etc.
3. Concluded the sessions by reflecting on our ‘new understanding’ of the subject and how it added to the student’s current knowledge.
Warm regards,
Chandni Patel
