UOI: Learning about previous generations helps people to understand the relation between past and present.

  • Learners were taken for the gallery walk where they observed pictures of various things used in past as well as things used in present. After this their observations/ questions/prior knowledge was noted in KWL chart.
  • After the read aloud of the book ‘The family tree’ learners got a better understanding about how things were in past and how things are in present. The word ‘generation’ was introduced.

Language :

  • Revision of 2 letter sight words:

a, is, me, on, I, it, us, by, as, or, in, if, up, am, at, do, of, go, no, so, to, we, he, my, be.

  • Revision of Aa to Zz through literacy centres as follows :
  • Clipping the letters to the respective objects
  • Sight words through mittens
  • Reading and writing of small letter alphabets Aa-zZ in the laminated sheet, slate and note book
  • Introduction of ‘ad’ word family- Focusing the initial sounds of letters from a to z learners made ‘ad’ family words and sorted the same into real and unreal words. Real words have meaning and unreal words don’t have meaning. Real words done in ‘ad’ family are -bad, mad,lad,sad,dad,pad

.Homework:

  1. Write ‘ad’ family words on Pg No.38 and 40 in My skill book –4 lines only
  2. Listen to the story, discussion about the story will be done on Monday

MATH:

  • Introduction of ganit mala and double tens frame  was done.
  • Revision of Math concepts like forward, backward, after, before, between/middle, ascending/descending order and greater than/less than/ equal to through literacy centres.
  • Revision of 2 attribute patterns through read aloud (Beep beep vroom vroom by J Spikey)
  • Learning Centres :
  •        Making ganit mala using flower beads.
  •        Association of number flashcards with jodo blocks.
  •        Matching of blocks on doubles frame sheet.
  •      Writing corner 1 to 20 in notebook.
  • Introduction of 21 to 30 through ganit mala focusing on Tens and ones. Writing 21 to 30 in notebook.

Guided play:-

Learners revised the sight words through fishing game.Learners were divided in group of 4. Each child was asked to catch a sight word using the fishing rod. The learners have to identify the sight words and read the sight words. Through this learning engagement learners revised/read sight words.

Important notes:

 

  • Kindly revise the two letter sight words done in Jr KG with your child.

  • Send I-cards without string for issuing library books.
  • Kindly send homework notebooks on the very next working day otherwise child will miss his\her writing in school.
  • Revise all the mathematical operations at home (after, before, missing, between, more, less, greater than, less than, ascending and descending).

Math: We revised word problems involving fractions.

UOI: Project : I – Care:

Class discussion on Why we need to help others and how do we feel on helping others? was taken up. Students reflected that it helps in connecting with others, makes us feel happy etc.

As the proverb says, “Charity begins at home“, we have started with I-care in our classroom where students care for their buddy by helping them in academics and being there for them when needed.

Language:

Students recited their favourite poems. Their prior knowledge on poetry was assessed through Think 1 worksheet.

Homework: (Internet usage: Maximum 15 mins)

The above is the time table of grade 1 PS

Note:

1. If student have skate at home they can carry for their skating PS.

2. All students will do all the sports for particular time which is mentioned in above the table. the idea behind this  is that all students get a exposure of all sports so that they can choose a sport for themselves in grade 2.

3. Grade 1 students will not get any report regarding the PS, However parent can meet all the coaches during the Open house for any queries/ information.

Highlights :

Day 2

Math : The teacher solved 2 division sums on the board (4 digit by 2 digit – divisor up to 99) as examples and 2 sums were solved by calling out two of the learners and asking them to solve the sums on the board. Later the learners were given few division sums to solve in their Math notebook and a small test was also taken for checking their understanding.

Learners also started forming their academic and behavioral goals in their reflection notebook for the goal setting conference.

Homework :

Math : Solve the following in your Math notebook:

1) 4576 ÷ 73
2) 8885 ÷ 84

Also, redo any incorrect sums, in your Math notebook.

Note : Tomorrow , 4th July is a working Saturday. Day 1 timetable will be followed.

[Highlight Of The Day]

Language – Treasure hunt: Teacher divided the class into 4 groups. Gave a clue to each group. Students found the poems hidden in the class. Teacher recited all the poems. Later, teacher recited and explained the poem – ‘Where do  poems hide?’ by Sebastian Tsai.

Math – To know the meaning of ”of” for multiplication. Learners were shown following 2 videos in order to show students the constructing meaning for multiplication.

As a class 2 exemplars were solved on the board with students’ inputs.

Homework

Goal Setting:

As discussed in the class upon the given Journal sheets in the format created in the class. Complete the first draft of your goals with the strategies on a sheet given to you today and discuss it with your parents. Bring it tomorrow without fail. Signed by parents.

Language – Bring prints or write your favourite poetry on paper. Remember to note the poet’s name.

Math – Solve multiplication of mixed fraction 2  1/2  x  3  1/3 using area model.

Note for Parents:

1. Tomorrow being a student working Saturday – Day 1 will be followed.

2. Kindly send a photograph of your child on Saturday for a learning engagement. Size: 4 x 6 Type: Selfie with focus on the face.

UOI – Students were asked certain questions like – Why we need to help others? How do you feel when you extend yourself in order to support others? Share your feelings when your friends reciprocate the same. etc. The teacher discussed the I Care Project and made buddies for the same. The buddies will help each other in the class for the problems relating to academics. ( can help for non academic issues as well if needed).

Learning outcome – Students will be able to enhance their social skills and be more descriptive with their expressions.

Language – Students recited their poems today which they brought, in the class. Students filled a worksheet related to poetry. They had to write whether it is true or false with reasons.

Math: Revision of fractions. Learners also watched a video where they learnt the concept of ”of” for multiplication of fractions.

Essential Agreements of chrome books was discussed with the students today. They read the agreement form and committed to adhere to the same.

Homework – Language – Research about the difference between prose and poetry.
Complete the worksheet given to you (only the think 1 column).
