Grade 1 Peace Highlight:Day 4,Tuesday-7th July,2015

UOI:

Transdisciplinary theme: “Who we are”

Central idea:  Awareness of our characteristics, abilities, and interest allows our self-identity to develop.

 

Learning engagement: Teacher did a read aloud of the book “The many colors of friendship.” by Rita Vetsch. While reading the book, the teacher asked the students to guess how the characters in the story are feeling. She asked questions like “How can you tell that the character is feeling that way? Can you make a face that shows that feeling?”

 

Learning Intention: To help students understand emotional characteristics like sad, angry, happy etc.

 

Math :

 

Learning engagement: The students were given a ‘Dot sheet’. The teacher called out some numbers and the students circled the tens and ones in the sheet.

Numbers – 18,20,21,30,16,12,11,34,41,19,28,31. The teacher then explained the place value – tens and ones.

 

Learning intention: To help students count, record and write numbers.

Highlights:

Unit of Inquiry:

Learners did a recap of all the session till date done in school. The teacher asked provocative questions where the learners came up with all the Lines of Inquiry. They made connections with organization ‘Fountainhead school‘. They even came up with words that connected with the central Idea of the unit.

Language:

Learners wrote a story in their language writing book which was demonstrated by the teacher on the board and then identified its plot, settings and characters.

Maths:

Learners practiced word problems in their math classwork notebook.

Homework:

Math : Complete the given task in math homework notebook.

Learning Engagement: Thinkers Key

Objective: Thinkers’ keys can be integrated into the classroom to enhance the thinking of the students. It helps to develop flexible problem solving and thinking habits.

Details: Teacher explained what is thinkers key and disadvantage key. Then she discussed the disadvantages and improvement for objects like an umbrella. The learners shared their views and the teacher wrote them on the board. After that, they  noted all the points in their UOI note books.disadvantage and improvement of umbrella

Home work: Write 3 points on disadvantage and improvement on ‘School bus seats’ in your UOI notebook in the LEAP section.

2) Write the place value of all the digits

3) Identify whether it is odd or even

4) Write it’s number name

5) Expand the number

6) Write it’s next 3 odd numbers

7)  Write it’s predecessor and successor

8) Write it’s next 5 numbers

9) Add the same number to it.

10) Subtract the number from 9999

(2)Sneha had Rs.2350 with her and she went to the mall and bought a dress for Rs 400, sandals for 234 and a purse for Rs. 545. (a) What is the total amount she has to pay to the shopkeeper. (b) How much amount is left with her now?.
