Note

1) There are total 30 sums to be done in homework. Each worksheet has 15 sums in it.

2) All the sums are to be done in your Math note-book with all the required steps.

3) Answers, which are given below in both the worksheets, are purposely given  so that you all can do self-assessment.

4) In case of any doubt, it will be solved in tomorrow’s Math class.

5) These two worksheets are basically given as a purpose of practice for the upcoming unit test which is on Friday (Date- 10th July, 2015).

Dear Parents/Students,

Learners of grade-4 started their stand alone STRAND (Interaction) in PE. through this strand the learners will be playing different kinds of GAMES and ADVENTURE CHALLENGE ACTIVITIES.

Today the learners of section fortitude and freedom played a game Tug of war  as their tuning in activity and two grade-4 sections valour and resilience played a game Rugby  as their tuning in activity in their first stand alone class. Learners were enthusiastic during the game and worked really hard to make strategies and do team work. Learners were able to identify/reflect using the EXIT PASS tool that what were their action and what was the impact/reaction of their action on them/team. Below are the glimpses of the same.

Transdisciplinary theme: Who we are

Central idea:  Awareness of our characteristics, abilities and interest allows our self identity to develop.

 

Learning engagement : Learners were given different situation and they were asked to identify different emotional characteristics.

 

Learning intention : To help students identify emotional characteristics.

Language:

Learning engagement : Learners read their new reader ‘My book about me’written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss and Roy MCkie. They wrote about themselves and drew their physical characteristics in the book.

Learning intention : To help students to reflect on their physical characteristics and their identity.

Math:

Math :

 

Learning engagement : Learners practised expansion of numbers into tens and ones by solving the given worksheet.

Learning intention : To help students understand the relation between numbers.

 

ICT :

The teacher discussed the essential agreements for the chromebook.

Math- Learners explored different types of quadrilaterals. Expert groups for each type of quadrilateral were made. The expert groups researched about the quadrilateral assigned to them and prepared posters for the same.

Language: Learners learned etiquette and vocabulary for debate.

WWS - Learners practiced to frame sentences with conjunction. Also reinforced use of interjection.

Learning engagement :  The students read the book – How big is a foot? by Rolf Myller and understood that objects have attributes that can be measured using non-standard units like hand span and foot span.

Learning intention : To help students compare the length of objects using nonstandard units.

Chromebook Orientation:

Learners were oriented to the chromebook.

The demonstration of composing and sending mail, creating folder and document on Google drive, renaming the folder/document, copy-pasting images from google, sharing the folder and document with other person etc. was given.

They have created UOI, Language and Math folders on the Google drive.

UOI- Who we are:

Learners took active participation during the guest speaker session about “Spiritual aspect”.

The experts from “Art of living” workshop  were invited to deepen the understanding of learners regarding spiritual aspect of well being.

Learners could come up with very good questions like;

  • What is spirituality?
  • How is it connected to our well being?
  • Why do we only get negative thoughts about ourselves?
  • How can we change the negative thoughts into positive?

Thus, the guest speaker session was very interactive.

Math:

Learners practiced word problems of multiplication involving Fractions. The focus was given more on how to frame the statement while solving the word problems.

Began with Week 3, Day 3.

  1. I go to the restaurants â…– days in a year to enjoy eating junk food. How many days in a year I eat healthy food?
  2. The length of the tile is 1 ½ inch. If you put 6 tiles end to end, how long would they be from beginning to end?
  3. You went to the sweet shop and bought 25 rasgullas. Outside the shop you saw a beggar and gave  ⅖ to him. How many rasgullas you gave him?
  4. After coming from school I have 8 1/2 hours with me. Out of which I spend 1/5 hours meditating. How many hours I meditate?
  5. You are going on a field trip of 4 miles, and you have gone 2/3 of the way.  How far have you gone?
