Maze Game!

Maze Game!

Learners enthusiastically played a game where they enhanced their learning . In this learning engagement, learners jumped through the maze which had 6 boxes, wherein 3 boxes were empty and 3 boxes had letter ‘a’ written in them.  When they would jump on a box with letter ‘a’ , in the first box they would identify the letter. In the second box they would identify the letter and say it’s sound. And in the final box, learners would identify the letter, say it’s sound and finally say as many objects starting with letter ‘a’ that they could remember.  This activity improved their oral skills and also enhanced their vocabulary of letter ‘a’ objects. At the end learners were rewarded an ‘a’ ‘a’ apple.

Let’s connect!!

Let’s connect!!

In our ongoing unit of inquiry we want our learners to understand the concept- Connection. For this we did a guided play, wherein telephones (2  glasses tied with strings) were used. Firstly the learners were grouped as per the initial sounds of their names. Thereafter in pairs they played with the telephones and talked to each other. While they were using these glass telephones, they were asked questions like- “Why/How they are able to hear on the other end?; How did the voice reached to the person having the glass on his ear?” etc. They applied thinking skills and concluded because the glasses are joint with the string, they can hear on the other end. They also explained that voice passed through the string. Gradually the word ‘connection’ was given by one of them.

After this guided play, we discussed other examples of connection. Learners shared examples like paper-pen, mobile tower-mobile, fan/light- wire, mobile/I-Pad and charger , we’re connected to our family and friends etc. Finally they illustrated few examples on a sheet of paper.

Sharing few pics of the play:
