Jr. KG Common Rhyme Session: Pitter Patter

With the ongoing monsoon season, all learners of Jr. KG were introduced to a new rhyme(Pitter Patter) through a common session in the Early Years Atrium. They showed a lot of enthusiasm to learn the new rhyme and sang the same while simultaneously doing the actions. It was a fun session and the learners thoroughly enjoyed it! Sharing the lyrics of the rhyme and a few glimpses of the session.

Pitter Patter:

Pitter patter, pitter patter,

Here comes the rain.

Pitter patter, pitter patter,

Down the window pane.

Splish, splash, splish, splash,

Filling every puddle.

Introduction Of Letter ‘b’: Balloon Play!!- Jr. KG Indigo 

Learners were introduced to the letter ‘b’ through balloon play! They showed a lot of enthusiasm during this learning engagement. They first observed blowing of balloons, then each learner was given their own balloon. They all played with their balloon by bouncing it. Further on they enjoyed bursting the same balloon!! This way they were introduced to newer vocabulary like blowing, bouncing and bursting which all start with letter ‘b’. Grade-7-All Sections_Language Highlights & Homework (10/07/15)

Dear Parents,

This week, we discussed the homework assignment given to students on descriptive writing. We helped them use the correct vocabulary and structure to write the same passage given in the homework. This descriptive writing piece will be the part of the coursework (Internal Assessment). The rubrics of the same will be shared with the students soon. The submission date for this coursework is 28th July, 2015.

The initiation activity for the new unit based on short stories was done this week. Students saw  a video clip from the movie “Scream”. During the video watch, students were asked to identify the clues so as to predict the next event. The literary device foreshadowing was introduced to the students. The text of the short story “The Landlady – Roald Dahl” is shared with the students. We applied the annotated reading strategy for independently reading this story. Students have to highlight the text where they can identify a clue, the text which is difficult to interpret and the literally device used in this story. In the coming sessions, we will cater to literally analysis of this story.

For the book-club slot, few students shared the presentation of the book read. The excitement of reading the book and making the presentations by the students is worth appreciating. Hope this love for reading continues!!!

Homework -:

1. Start with the coursework on descriptive writing piece. Start with the first draft and take adult help for editing the first draft.

2. Prepare for the Unit Teat – 1.

Day 1 – Friday

[Unit Of Inquiry]

A Guest speaker session was held where members of SUO(Surat Ultimate Open) came to speak with the learners. The session was quiet interactive with the team members (Vardan Sir, Madhav Sir, Rupali Ma’am, and few senior students of fountainhead school). After session teacher asked each students to reflect upon their understanding orally.This session helped learners to enhance their understanding about the organization and its function.

Language

Reading time was catered in the class today where learners made  connection with LP’s Attitudes and 7 Habits.

Go through the video of today’s session and answer the below given questions in the UOI note book.(Video is already posted)

New words given in the notebook. New words are support, reflect, need, create, problem.Students have to write it each words  3 times in their language book and also make sentences.

NOTE: Learn the dictation words of last week as well as  the words given today, Friday there will be dictation.Every Friday there will be a dictation so remember that and learn the spellings without fail.

On Monday  kindly bring one (English) newspaper article which you  feel interested to read .Please bring the cutting of that article .
