Family Visit: Nuclear Family With Grandparents- Jr. KG Indigo

## Family Visit: Nuclear Family With Grandparents- Jr. KG Indigo

Learners were very excited to go on their first field trip for the year 2015-16. As a part of a learning engagement for their ongoing unit Family And Friends, they visited the home of a Nuclear Family With Grandparents. Here they met the whole family where the members talked about their roles and responsibilities in the family as well as towards it’s members. The grandparents also narrated a story and sang a song with the learners.

We would like to thank and appreciate the parents of Arna Talera for volunteering for this learning engagement. Thank you so much once again!😊

Regards,

😊Suchi Dakoria😊

Imaginative play after a read aloud !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

## Imaginative play after a read aloud !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear parents,

After the read aloud ‘My mothers Sari’ the learners were given a sari and asked to imagine and think what the sari is to them. They came up with creative ideas like beach mat, butterfly, superman, fairy, blanket, cloud, swing, belt, fisher man’s net and many other things. This helped them to think creatively and enhance their thinking and oral communication skills. Sharing a few pictures of the same.

With gratitude,

## Grade 2 Wonder: Math centres!!

Math

• Learning centres:

Workstation 1: Learners picked a number card from each basket and modeled the number using base ten blocks. They wrote and drew the modelled number in their notebook. In the next step, they modelled predecessor and successor of the number and wrote the same including the number names in the notebook.

Workstation 2: Learners formed 4 digit numbers using place value cards, then they wrote the number and its place value in their notebook.

For eg: 1235= 1 thousand + 2 hundred + 3 tens + 5 ones.

Workstation 3: A spinner was provided at this station with all the instructions written on it. The learners had to spin the spinner and do the task mentioned on it in their note book.

For instance: State whether the given number is odd or even, write next 5 numbers for the given number etc.

Workstation 4: Learners were asked to write numbers from 1080 to 1100 in their note book.

Workstation 5: Learners did an activity on chrome books.

Rewinding the past!!!

## Rewinding the past!!!

Today the learners got an opportunity to reflect their understanding about the past in our unit on “generations” through visual arts. They re-winded the past with the help of Rahul sir and clay. Yes, the young learners were at work with the clay and used their imagination to form different toys, shapes and images of things, which were used in the past like pots, bowl, telephone, train, hand grinder(chakki), keys etc. Sharing few glimpses.

Anita.

Ones and Tens

## Ones and Tens

As a part of the Math learning engagement, the learners in pairs,  revised the place value of ones and tens by becoming a wood cutter and a customer. One learner (customer) showed his/her partner (a wood cutter) a number. The wood cutter had to make bundles of tens and ones of the sticks and and form the number by placing them on the laminated sheet of ones and tens. The learners were very excited to play the role of both the wood cutter and the customer. Sharing the glimpses of the same.
