The giver:

a. This question was discussed- How would you feel if you were in place of Jonas in the ceremony of twelves and would have received the job of “”receiver””?  It helped learners to understand the text and empathise with the character.

b. Discussion of  the H.W.was also taken up- Brainstorm distinctive memories from growing up. Make sure memories are in complete sentences but in list form. Next to each memory, each student should categorize the description based on the remembered emotion. “”traumatic””, “”exciting””,..(words good and bad not allowed) Include at least one negative and one positive event.

Following this the class was lead into a discussion of whether or not they would choose to forget some of their memories — maybe in order to forgo the painful remembrance of an event. This discussion helped them understand the question- “The giver says that without memories knowledge is meaningless, what does he mean?”

WWS:

Learners learnt how to describe a character using imagery and sensory details. They understood how extra details are used to describe a character vividly. They started writing the character description of their HRT, in class.

Math

Learners, in their groups presented and explained the quadrilateral assigned to them, to the rest of the class. It was an interactive session and helped learners clear their doubts.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Discussion on the 3 branches of government and their functions was taken up in the class.

[Read Aloud]

Read the book –Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin.

Homework

Giver: 1. Answer this in journal:  “The giver says that without memories knowledge is meaningless, what does he mean?”

2. Make corrections in the previous answers as per the discussions in class.

3. Complete reading and attempt the quiz till ch-14.

WWS: The students need to complete the independent writing of describing their HRT and do proof reading in case you haven’t completed it in the class.

-If you  have completed writing the piece you need to refer to the link from learn-zillion given below and refine your  written piece based on the same.
Making your writing more realistic using “Show-not-Tell”: https://learnzillion.com/lessons/512-revise-narrative-writing-to-show-not-tell

(Note: The account id and password will be mailed in your student id)

Note regarding readers.

Note regarding readers.

Dear parents,

Kindly note, today we’re sending the readers. Out of 5 books, we’ve kept one reader- ‘Hop on Pop’ in class itself as we’ll be starting with that very soon. Keep the remaining books at home. After a month or so,we’ll be informing which book to be sent next, after we’re done with Hop on Pop.

(Note-Those students who haven’t ordered Hop on Pop as they already have at home , need to bring it to school by tomorrow.)

Regards,
Sr.KG Team.
