Dear Parents,

This week we started with a new unit – The Landlady by Roald Dahl. Students learned a new literary device – foreshadowing/prediction. They identify the clues in the story and infer their meanings. Hard-copy of the story was given to the students. Students enjoy reading this suspense story and try to come up with their varied predictions. We also revised The Frog and the Nightingale poem as students will be appearing for their first language unit test this coming Monday, i.e. 20th July.

Students, given below is the link of the rubrics for your course work – descriptive writing. Go through the rubrics and edit your descriptive piece accordingly.

Dear Parents,

This week we continued with the short story by O Henry – The Gift Of The Magi. We discussed the literary devices,  narrative technique, tone and the Biblical allusions used by the writer in the story. The students enjoyed the ‘O Henry twist’ in the story. In the coming week students will start with analytical question answers.

We also started with unit – 8 in the workbook explaining the students the concepts of semi-colons. In the coming week they will be taught about the usage of colons too and practice exercises will be given on the same topic.

On 20th July they have their first language unit test. All the best to all the students.

Regards,

Grade 8 Language team
