Grade 7_Educational Field Trip to Dandi & Daman.

Dear Parents,

This is to inform you that Grade 7 students shall be going to Dandi & Daman on 4th August 2015 for an educational field trip as a part to learn: “Colonisation of foreign colonies in India” (Portuguese culture) in Individuals & Societies.

As it is related to syllabus, participation of all the students is mandatory.

The cost for the trip is 700/- per student (which will be deducted from Imprest)

Lunch will be provided by School but they are supposed to carry snacks and water from home.

Departure will be at 6.30 AM from Vanita Vishram and we are expected to reach Surat back by 8.00 PM.

Parents are requested to drop & pick students on time.

Learning Engagement : The students did few more pages of “My book about me”, where they wrote their favorite food, subject, teacher etc.

Learning Outcome: To know about themselves.

Language development:

Learning Engagement:The learners chanted aloud the conjugation of ‘to want’. They also did pair work – Do you want a piece of cake? Yes, I would love to have some. No, not now, I just had a heavy breakfast.

 

Learning Outcome: To help students enhance their oral communication skills.

Math:

Learning Engagement :The teacher discussed the place value, which helped the students to realize that tens are composed of ones and hundreds are composed of tens. The teacher focused on the transition points in numbers ie. 109-110, 119-120……..

Learning Outcome: To help students model numbers to hundreds or beyond using the base 10 place value system.

Learning Engagement: The learners played the ball game catering to abilities and interests, where they shared their ability by saying “I can” and shared their interest by saying “I like..” The teacher demonstrated the activity for a clear understanding.

Learning Outcome: To help students reflect on their abilities and interests.

Learning Engagement: The students shared their small moments which were stretched and presented in the form of a graphic organizer.(shared modelling)

Learning Outcome:To help students make connections to their own experience when listening to or reading texts.

Language development:

Learning Engagement:The learners chanted aloud the conjugation of ‘to want’. They also did pair work – Did you see her new dress? Yes, I did,it is very pretty. No, I’m afraid I didn’t see her pretty dress.

Math

Learners learnt the concept  of rounding the number to nearest ten through Ganit Mala & Role Play, their understanding on the same was checked through quiz using real life examples.

Example:79 rounded to the nearest ten is 80.

Language

Teacher did a read aloud of the  chapter 7 “The Monster Fancy dress party” then the students were asked to read the text aloud , later  various questions like, “if they have read any monster comics” or “have they seen any films” or “know of any stories”. Furthermore, questions  were done orally and students wrote the answers of questions (a,c,e) in their language book. They were explained homophones  from the reference book (Empowering English).

Teacher did a Read aloud of the book  “On time”.

Draw a monster and describe it using new adjectives and colour it.(A4 sheet has been given to them for the same.)

While discussing place value, the teacher helped the child to realize that tens are composed of ones and hundreds are composed of tens. The teacher focussed on the transition points in numbers ie. 109-110, 119-120……..

Learning Outcome: To help students model numbers to hundreds or beyond using the base 10 place value system.

Language development:

Learning Engagement:The students were given practice of punctuating the sentence(full stop and capital letter) and proper nouns were revised.
Learning Outcome: To help students understand punctuation and proper nouns.
