[Unit Of Inquiry]

Learning Engagement: The learners played the ball game catering to abilities and interests, where they shared their ability by saying “I can” and shared their interest by saying “I like..” The teacher demonstrated the activity for a clear understanding.

Learning Outcome: To help students reflect on their abilities and interests.

Language

Learning Engagement: The students shared their small moments which were stretched and presented in the form of a graphic organizer.(shared modelling)

Learning Outcome:To help students make connections to their own experience when listening to or reading texts.

Language development:

Learning Engagement:The learners chanted aloud the conjugation of ‘to dance’. They also did pair work – Will Maya dance for the annual day?

Yes, she will, as she is good at dancing.

No, she won’t dance, as her leg his hurt.

Thought of the day – Silence is golden

Day 1

Language :

Learning Engagement: The teacher shared her small moments (THINK ALOUD) with the students using a graphic organizer. (Teacher modelling). She also discussed the pre writing process with the students and modeled it on the board.

Learning Outcome: To help students make connections to their own experience when listening to or reading texts.

Learning Engagement : The students did few more pages of “My book about me”, where they wrote their favorite food, subject, mam etc.

Learning Outcome: To know about themselves.

Learning Engagement: The students shared their small moments which were stretched and presented in the form of a graphic organizer.(shared modelling)

Learning Outcome:To help students make connections to their own experience when listening to or reading texts.

 

Math:

Learning Engagement :The teacher discussed the place value, which helped the students to realize that tens are composed of ones and hundreds are composed of tens. The teacher focused on the transition points in numbers ie. 109-110, 119-120……..

Learning Outcome: To help students model numbers to hundreds or beyond using the base 10 place value system.

Dodging: The teacher took dodging of few random numbers from 1-100.

Language development:

Learning Engagement:The students were given practice of punctuating the sentence(full stop and capital letter) and proper nouns were revised.

Learning Outcome: To help students understand punctuation and proper noun

Day 2

UOI:

Learning Engagement: The learners played the ball game catering to abilities and interests, where they shared their ability by saying “I can” and shared their interest by saying “I like..” The teacher demonstrated the activity for a clear understanding.

Learning Outcome: To help students reflect on their abilities and interests.

Language :

Math:

Learning Engagement :The students were given place value cards and were asked to depict any number from 100 to 400. The students also understood the place value. While discussing place value, the teacher helped the child to realize that tens are composed of ones and hundreds are composed of tens. The teacher focussed on the transition points in numbers ie. 109-110, 119-120……..

Learning Outcome: To help students model numbers to hundreds or beyond using the base 10 place value system.

Language development:

Learning Engagement:The learners chanted aloud the conjugation of ‘to want’. They also did pair work – Do you want a piece of cake? Yes, I would love to have some. No, not now, I just had a heavy breakfast.

Learning Outcome: To help students enhance their oral communication skills.

Highlights

Day- 2  Tuesday 

Language – Teacher did a read aloud of the  chapter 7 “The Monster Fancy dress party” then she asked students to read the text aloud , later they were asked  various questions like “if they have read any monster comics” or “seen any films” or “know of any stories”, “Has anyone ever dressed up as a monster for a fancy dress?”Furthermore, questions  b,d, f  were done orally with proper discussion.

Math  – Students were introduced to another type of graph “Bar graph” and they also wrote its definition. They learnt about the properties of X and Y axis, where the data should be written and how numbers are represented through bars. They understood the difference between a Pictograph and a Bar Graph. Moreover, they also got to know how we can organize data through Bar Graph.

Homework –

Language –Draw a monster and describe it using new adjectives and colour it.(A4 sheet has been given to them for the same.)

Day 2 – Tuesday

Math:

Learners made Pictographs in their classwork notebooks on the basis of their understanding of the class taken yesterday.

Language:

Teacher had a session  with Learners where they  discussed  “bullying”. They discussed what is bullying, why do children bully? How can you help your friends who get bullied? Etc. They were asked to write their understanding in a  worksheet. Learners did week 2 day 1 in their Language with ease.

UOI:

Learners gave their reflection on the visit to the “Nature Club” in a graphic organizer mentioning the purpose of organization (nature club), why people joined this organization and what strategies do they use to solve problems.

A glimpse of LEAP session in Grade 8

Learning engagement : Extending Grabber

Details : The LEAP session was a hands-on activity based  on makers. Students used ice cream sticks to make a grabber that could grab plastic glasses. They were actively engaged in exploring the intersections of making and learning. Students faced some difficulty yet thoroughly enjoyed the activity.

A glimpse of LEAP session in Grade 7

Learning engagement : Making monster’s jaw

Details : The LEAP session was a hands-on activity based  on makers. Students made a monster’s jaw using mount board and some pins. These activities enhances their Creativity, Mental Agility, Learning Habits and Self Knowledge. Students thoroughly enjoyed the session.

[Highlight Of The Day]

Math

Learners implemented one of the four ways of Data Collection i.e Observation. They were divided into 4 groups and were assigned 1 area for their observation of 20 students. Tally marking was to be done for data collection after observing the students in the respective venues. They had to create an observation sheet recording the data collected.

Learners were full of enthusiasm & innovative ideas to present their understanding of the 4 aspects & successfully complete their well-being mela today.
