Highlights:

Day-3, Wednesday.

UOI :

Students watched a video on Child Aid International. Then a detailed discussion about the video was done in the class about the organization as well as questions like

-What is the purpose of this organization? What are their goals?
– What issues do they solve?
– How do they organize themselves? How do they organize their projects?
– What are the challenges of organizations and how do they overcome them?

Math :

The teacher role modelled  Bar Graph on the board based on the number of students selecting different sports in PS and they  copied the same in their Math notebooks.
Homework:

Math –  The students have to make a Bar Graph with their class data (number of boys and girls)  Boys = 12  ,  Girls = 8

Highlights of the day – 22nd July.

Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations for conducting the Mela successfully.
The learners were given an opportunity to present their understanding of Unit of inquiry where they focused on the given aspect & its interconnectedness with the other three aspects of well being. For this activity they were divided into four expert groups(mental, social, spiritual, physical). The creative minds brought out amazing ways to present their aspect to the audience like charts, PPTs, videos, dance,skits, mind boggling games, etc. Here, they also exhibited their Social Skills by working together in a group with synergy. Visitors were astonished by the efforts put in by the learners for the Mela. They appreciated & gave their valuable suggestions to the learners.

Math

Learners were given a detailed explanation on classification of quadrilaterals.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

Learners were given an article on all the forms of government which was to be read by them in the class on an individual basis and later on, they had to attempt the questions for the same as check for understanding. A detailed discussion was taken on the forms of government and the functioning of the same.

Homework

Complete the writer’s workshop homework if you have not done till now.

Complete the UOI worksheet of not completed in the class.

Complete the journal with questions given so far and reading till chapter 19.

Math

Teacher opened Flipkart site on the LCD and asked students to assume that they have a budget of Rs. 2000, now what all things they will buy they had to mention in their notebook. They had to find out total amount spent and also the amount left out with them.

Learning Outcome:Students understood about usage of addition and subtraction in real life situation.

Teacher did a Read aloud of the book  “Super duper market”, to build upon their maths understanding.

Language

Teacher revised the concept of narrative writing and introduced 6 writing traits & writing process to children.

Homework

Student need to solve word problem in math homework book.

a) You are in a market with your two friends ,your mother gave you 500 Rs to spend all three of you eat ice-creams ,burgers,fruit drinks when one ice-cream is of 30 Rs ,burger is of 25 Rs and fruit drink for Rs 15 .Your mother has asked you to keep an account of the money spent and left with you in the math notebook.Write with proper statements.

UOI integration with LEAP :

 Learners learnt about DFC: Design for change in their last LEAP session. DFC is a helpful tool in problem solving,Gr 3 has taken up school  pantry as a case study for DFC. Student will follow the four steps of DFC : Feel , Imagine, Do and Share.
Today learners started their case study with the first step Feel. They were taken to school pantry during the home meal break .They were asked to observe the environment and the people .
After coming back ,there was a discussion and students were asked following questions.
Q.What did you observe?What was happening there?
Q.Who are the people involved in  the problem situation?
Q.Who are getting affected and how?
Q.What were the problems faced by the students,teachers and didis?
The students gave answers to these questions and made a Y chart to write their responses in three sections of Y chart under “looks like,Feels like,Sounds like”.
In the next session students will be brainstorming ideas to solve the problem identified by them.
Math :

  • Use the above rubric to give feedback for your writing piece “Describing HRT” and try to convert the grows into glows.

22nd July,2015 Highlights and Homework

UOI- Some study material was provided to the students. They had to go through it , read, understand and solve related exercises. It helped students deepen their understanding about  the types of government.

Maths- A revision of quadrilaterals was taken up in class. Doubts related to classification of quadrilaterals and their relationships with each other, was discussed and clarified.

Language- A discussion was taken up to clarify doubts in Giver. The class was divided into groups, based on the chapters the students had already read and the teacher conferred with the group and clarified doubts.

Day 3- Wednesday

Language-

The teacher demonstrated how to form a sentence using a connecting phrase. Students formed 3 sentences using connecting phrases (In the end, On the other hand, In addition to). Learners also revised story sequencing through an activity where they worked in pairs and put different sentences of the the story “The dinosaur who had no friends” in a meaningful order.

Math-

Learners practices sums of addition and subtraction.

Visitors were astonished by the efforts put in by the learners for the Mela. They appreciated & gave their valuable suggestions to the learners.

This platform was used to consolidate their trans-disciplinary learning acquired in PE, music,VA, ILT confidently.
