Grade 11 Goal setting appointment slots note

Dear Parents,

The first goal setting conference for Grade 11 is scheduled on 1st August,2015.

The students have set personal goals as well as subject specific goals in consultation with their teachers. The individual student’s goal setting sheet is already shared with the respective parents with commenting rights.

The mentor teachers will discuss the personal goals with the student and the parents and the subject teachers will discuss the subject specific goals.

It is mandatory for all parents to meet the Mentor teachers.

Each student has a 30 minutes slot. First 20 minutes are allotted for the meeting with mentor teachers. The remaining 10 minutes can be used for meeting various subject teachers.  Please note that you should not be spending more than 5-7 minutes with the subject teachers.

Please do not exceed the timing allotted to you.

The mentor teachers will be available in their respective classes for the goal setting meeting.

Please check your parent email for slot booking message.

Make sure you reach 5 minutes prior to the appointment  slot.

If you want a slot of your preference then please book it at the earliest.

If you do not book your slots by 30 th July, 2015, we will book the available slots and send you an intimation for the same.

Dear Parents,

Introduction to psychology and a few famous psychological studies like the Marshmallow test and Zimbardo study etc. were done in the first few sessions. Students also discussed topics like gender roles and stereotypes in the society.

A brief of the subject was also given to all the students.

Post it, students were introduced to the first unit of Psychology wherein they learnt about:

  • Theories and Empirical Studies
  • Definition of Psychology
  • Diversity of psychology
  • Levels of analysis
  • History, etc

Students have also been briefed about optional subjects in Psychology to be able to make choices for the 2nd year.

Day – 6, Monday.
Highlights:
Unit of Inquiry (Integration with LEAP) :
Learners came up with the wide variety of solutions of the problem of school pantry.
Maths:
Learners solved a real life problem using the ‘Flipkart’ in their maths class note book.
Homework:

  1. You are in a market with your two friends, your mother gave you 500 Rs to spend all three of you eat ice-creams ,burgers,fruit drinks when one ice-cream is of 30 Rs, burger is of 25 Rs and fruit drink for Rs 15. Your mother has asked you to keep an account of the money spent and left with you in the Maths homework notebook. Write with proper statements.
  2. Make a bar graph as per explained in the class in the maths notebook (Boys-12 and Girls-8)

Students were taken to the X-Box wherein they took turns to play different characters from the drama, “INHERIT THE WIND.” Inherit the Wind is their reader for 9th and 10th.

As a tuning in students were shown trailer of the movie released in 1960 and a short documentary on SCOPE’s TRIAL. They showed keen interest in the topic and also narrated their dialogues well.

Overall, it was a fun-filled enriching session with students eagerly participating.

Day 6 – Monday

Learners shared how their weekend was and I what they did during the weekend.

Math

Learners learnt the concept  of rounding the number to nearest ten and hundred through role play and Ganit mala. Their understanding was enhanced by using a number of real life examples. The understanding of the topic done today, was checked by the teacher in the class by asking questions.
Example: 79 rounded to the nearest ten is 80.
598 rounded to the nearest hundred is 600.
Language
Learners finished discussing the chapter “The monster fancy dress”. Learners revised  Homophones in the class that has been already done before.
UOI integration with LEAP.
Learners discussed their ideas for the solutions of the problem faced by the canteen in the school. It was visible that they had used their thinking skill while coming up with these solutions.
Homework

Dear Students,

Please take note that the I&S Unit Test which was supposed to take place on 29 July 2015 has been postponed.

The revised date for Unit Test is 4th August 2015 (Day-6).

The syllabus remains same, i.e Nehru’s Legacy & Indira Gandhi.
